Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

Have you seen this channel? I haven't watched all or even most of their videos, but they have at least a handful that were filmed in Siberia. Yikes! -50 is a heatwave! Their temperatures are -80. I wouldn't even want to 'try' the experience for a day...let alone live there.

I know people who took their airstream through Alaska. Aluminum as well, so I suppose it can be done. I'm just not sure I want to do that to mine. Jenn and I have discussed "embracing" the patina. I dunno...there's a difference between patina and pits.

But its july 6, and I'm doing everything I can to avoid thoughts of winter and days getting shorter.

I got rained out this weekend! We got to the campground on Friday and had a nice supper, but I paid for my foolish "mad dash" from the house by forgetting my lawn chairs...

Saturday we had storms all morning, and predicted in the afternoon so we went looking for something to do...

We made our way to one of several destinations in Cincinnati I hope to visit this year...well worth a rainy day just to see the Hall of Justice, well, the building that inspired the cartoon.

This houses several museums and guest exhibits. We visited the transportation museum, the Natural history museum, and the Neil Armstrong exhibit. Well worth a trip -- but I missed a LOT which we were entitled to see, take that as advise to learn about what you can see before you go.

I'll be going back -- the next trip will take me to the American Sign museum as well...I love neon :)

EDIT: I don't know why my photos aren't showing up inline -- I remember a discussion about this but can't recall the solution. I'm inserting the photo with a cut/paste of the image from screen capture...

No, a tough crowd would ask about the seal...

If you had to put a temperature on it what would you guess? 60? Below my personal limit, but I'd have to do it too.....just to have a story.

60? for the air temp or the water temp?

More like 29-34F for the water temp in the summer at Prudhoe Bay

Thats what I would think ;) I'm trying to be optimistic. Thinking washallow depths and 24 hours of sun....maybe make a highly localized microclimate

I've been in Lake Erie in water that was close to 75 (my guess) way up north at Mackinac...it was almost "bathy"

Water temperature is 32F but that is out in the middle. Near shore it’s more like 50.

Thats bit chilly --- but yes ,the shallow depths make a big difference. I've seen that swimming in the great lakes...get out to deep water, and its an entirely different experience.

It’s really been nice here in Fairbanks. Daytime temps in 70’s and 50’s at night even though the sun doesn’t go much below the horizon. At the darkest it’s barely dark enough to use headlights. When I got here 12 days ago headlights weren’t needed.

That has got to really mess with your sleep cycle. I think this is where a blackout fan cover would be really welcomed. I'm wondering how "dip" removable paint would work -- I'm sure very well, I don't think the plastic would be harmed.
