Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

Getting ready pack up here in Cumberland Gap & move up to Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. We’ll get to see our daughter & her crazy cat for a couple of days while we are there.

The new premium Weather Channel app is surprisingly useful - working with 2bars
I like the radar overlay with winds and clouds. Zoom out to see circulation and tstms, surface circulation-
Good for route planning...need to be able to adjust time frame like you can at GOES animation loops on web...but that and NOAA/NWS radar runs slow/not with marginal cell signal, so...backup.
Are you presently in Milton FL? It’s been really hot here in FL this week. Normally we get afternoon showers everyday this time of year. Not so much this year so far.

Hot here too....but not abnormally so. We're getting a break over the weekend. Highs around 80, it would be a great weekend to go, but life is happening. I'll be locked at home for a couple weeks.

Maybe get the camper out of the garage and give it a bath -- its overdue. Going to bomb the indside with ozone too -- after "moving week" in the 90's, even with showering -- kind of...well...whats the polite term? Fresh as a mountain spring? Yah, lets go with that.

Lost me --- nope. Not even close. I'll take the 'skeeters, spiders, and the occasional trash panda... No Snakes! Makes me woodity to think about it

Just a black rat snake. He was sunning himself on the road just as you entered the campground. We had to get him to move so we could drive in. I wasn’t that close, I use a zoom lens app on my phone & then I cropped the photo.

It is going to be a cool night here at Illini State Park. Looking forward to not having to use the AC in Jeremiah tonight.

Those are the beautiful nights :) I like empty campgrounds where I can zip the screens closed and just enjoy the night air....I was blessed last week to be allowed to do that....

If we were camping this weekend, it would be the same...Today in Indiana (and tomororw) the weather is post card quality. Clear skies, fresh air, and temps around 80....totally amazing.

Folgers in my cup this morning. Clear skies and more important no wind.

Sunday, we went to Mass. We decided to go to breakfast instead of just eating at home. We stopped at the "Rock Cola Cafe" on the east side of Indianapolis. Some reviews say "Badly in need of power wash" -- its not that bad, but it is dated, and maybe a little run-down. But after the last 24 months, its no surprise. The place is a TOTAL dive - but to be honest, I prefer it that way over over-done, disingenuous, manufactured nostalgia. This place has been there since the mid century, and its pretty much what you see :D I loved it.

The "Kitchenette" diner in South Bend Indiana is much the same way.

Had 2 eggs, 2 strips of thick cut bacon (cooked perfectly) and a side of biscuit and gravy. About perfect on all counts. Coffee - whatever was in the urn, probably folgers...Matters not, it was just fine :D

The Rock Cola diner is interesting --- while I have never had it, they have a concoction they make called Cho-cola. I have to admit to never having it, but I am told it is very very good, and it originated right here. Home - Choc-ola

Cooling off, at 6000' and wind dropped.
Time for dinner!

Not half bad :) New Mexico?

I'm sitting here cleaning up 2 weeks of old emails and canceling some reservations I won't be able to keep in August....I'm a little disapointed that I won't be able to see Close Encoutners from Devils Tower this summer :(

I still have to take a week off, but I have no idea where to go or what to do....my feet are nailed to the floor, symbolically anyway.

I have heard Hocking Hills Ohio is nice -- but the only camp site available was on the end of a loop entry, right off the main road leading into a 200+ site campground. NO WAY! I really wish there were equivelent to BLM around here...being in a distributed spot with a 1/8 of a mile between me and my neighbor would be quite nice.

71 & sunny here at the Camp Inn factory. Trash truck just emptied the dumpster. Listening to the birds & seen quite a few rabbits too. Slept with the doors opened & screens zipped which made for a good nights sleep.

I love cool nights like that, especially if you are lucky enough to not be in a campground packed in like sardines.

Skeeter's get their pint of blood last night?

I though it was a gimmick, but this really works.

Big bunnies here:
Black-tailed Jackrabbit Fact Sheet

Come out in the cool of the morning- 39F yesterday, forecast 45 tonite/morrow...

And the daytime highs? I really want to visit the southwest at some point. I'm never been able to spend any time there at all, just pass throughs and fly-overs. Maybe a trip to Nogales to get eye-glasses....I follow some youtubers who have made this trip....great food and good prices on medicines, dental, and eyeglasses :D A bit of "soft proof" that big medicine just like "big banks" have really totally devastated the working class in this country.

Monster of Jekyll Island - its a thing.

I think I am probably hard-wires for cooler but not cold. Trouble is where you find cooler summers you find nasty winers.
The northern part of the southern half of michigan is my favorite summer spot so far....

We are wired for cooler temps also. Our favorite places are the northern parts of Wisconsin, Bayfield , Cornucopia, the Upper 1/2 of Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. Its kind of like a return to the simpler times for us.

Traveling to follow the weather would be nice --- but jobs interfere with my camping schedule ;) -- lets hope for some changes -- at this point retiring is out of the question anytime soon :(

Summer, I definately love gaylord north in Michigan. December, not so much :D
