When picking up our camper in Necedah, I asked Cary about the Zamp Solar panels. He told me that they are ready to use by just plugging the included set up into the DC outlet in the back of the Galley.
We are saving to buy their ZS-80-P 80 Watt Portable Solar Charging System.
Billy keep in mind you don't need the solar option from Camp Inn if you use the Zamp panels as they come with their own controller but you at least mine did. Thats 150.00 you could use elsewhere. Dave
Dave: Any word on whether CostCo still has the Zamp-made units?
I'm now planning a trip for late-April, so I guess it's time to get my act together.
My recollection was that the CostCo Zamp units were 60's (but that the optimal size for our campers is 80) - but "optimal can mean so many things, of course. Optimal for charging? Optimal for storing?
Wow Al! That is quite a discount compared to the full retail price. Thanks for sharing this. I'm tempted to actually get one now versus waiting. I do want to go back to other threads and see if I can teach myself how to calculate what kind of electrical draw all of my electronics will have, and how big of a panel I would need. I did get the solar option on my raindrop and understand that the Zamp bypasses my built in solar controller. However, I haven't yet come across a portable solar panel (without a controller) that I feel good about.
That is probably me too but I think Rick was copying me. And Al I don't see any in Costco now but they bring things in when you least expect it. I think the site you referenced would be a good site. There prices seem to be about what I paid.
Now if we would ever get some sun in Oregon I could see if they work. I may have to travel toward the sun some time soon.
I am planning a trip to Lake Shasta the end of April for the
20th annual gathering of the tears. Should be interesting.
Who all is going to the DAM gathering? I am feeling a little better about registering now that I have a clean bill of health. Should probably get on that soon! It will be here before we know it!
Dave: Guilty as "charged!"
(get it? - "charged"?)
No? Nothing? Okay - moving on then...
I would say that my "electronic mentors" for equipping my Raindrop with electronics have been YOU, Evan, Matt Rogers, and probably a couple of others that I am momentarily forgetting right now.
This is what has made this forum so critical for me - the collective wisdom of the tribe!
I just registered today. Will just be me and Laddy this time. I am planning to be there Wed-Sat nights. Are you going for the whole time? Maybe we can camp near each other.
Dave, will we see you and Dixie there too? Anyone else going to the DAM gathering?
Yes we are planning on the whole time. Possible need to go a day early to get two sites together. Don,t know as this is our first outing. Thanks for invite. Dave
I will be there on Sunday and staying the whole time. I take two days to get there. I have reservations in the Medford/Grants Pass area both coming and going.
We could have our own little Camp-Inn Corner! As Uncle Frank would say "hehehe...Fun!"
I haven't decided which day I will start down. Might go a day early and stop in Eugene to see my family. Shame they aren't a little further south. I was thinking it would be fun to take Laddy to Wildlife Safari on the way home. Haven't been there in years. The last time one of the ostriches tried to rip off the windshield wiper. Might leave Dottie outside! Once I figure it out, I will let you know.
Man, I am getting excited about camping season! So many good things on the calendar so far!
