Is the serial number 499? Didn't you guys retro number back to 0000?
No, this one is #500. The first one wasn't built for production, it was for us to take a family trip. Interest from that resulted in the business of building teardrops. The first one became a prototype for future builds. That is why it is #0. You can see it on the Camp-Inn web site under Travel Pictures - Misc. It is in pic. #6, 7 & 8.
The first one built to sell was #1. It is the one you see when you go to the Camp-Inn homepage, with the mountains in the background.
The prototype, #0, was sold after a year in order to finance materials to build the first production model (demo), which is the one we have now, #2.
#2 is really the one that became the "standard" for the design of the 550. #0 & #1 had very different kitchen configurations. #0 also had painted fenders, (and is the only one that did - just ask Cary
) a different tongue jack & if you look at the doors, the window orientation is vertical, not horizontal.

I have a question born of curiosity.
What impact has this forum had on the Camp-Inn operation? I know you and Cary have spent time here that was not anticipated a couple years ago.
Not sure, specifically, how much it has impacted production, as I'm not involved in that part of the day to day operations. I'm too busy corralling students! That would be a question for Cary.
Personally, I believe the forum has had a huge impact, as it has allowed people who are curious or thinking of buying a teardrop/Camp-Inn access to so much info on everything from soup to nuts (or galley to hitch!). And it gives them an opportunity to ask questions of the people who have one. For that, we thank all of you!
A BIG thank you goes to Evan for all he has done with the forum! Without him, it (& we) wouldn't be here . Take a bow, Evan!

Also, have customers contacted you with knowledge of the forum as the initial introduction to Camp-Inn?
I know of some but Cary would have a better handle on that one, again, as he is the one most people speak with when they first make contact or place an order.

Either way.....Congratulations on number 500!!!!
Thanks! I know the guys have worked hard to get here. I've said to Craig, "Where else can you have a job where you get to see & be involved with a product from concept to finished piece, see how happy people are because of it, cause them to expand their travels, bring them together with people from all over where they then make new friends?"
I know some of the dearest friends we have now are because of teardrops. Wouldn't trade that for anything!
