Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

Thanks. I didn’t know if they were going to put us in a different section. I’ll try and save you a spot.

Thanks -- hoping to be there Wednesday afternoon.

I'm looking forward to this trip so much. Yet,I've got a thousand things to do before then.

Been closely watching the weather for Necedah. Looks like it's going to be perfect camping weather so far. That said, after nearly 3 months of 100+ swampy heat here in Texas, I'm going to absolutely freeze in the mid-70's. 50's at night? Taranis, The Popsicle.

Looks like two options the Dirty turtle or the Way Station for the Packers game…

Shipwreck Bay is a good choice too -- they have a large patio, and a really good tavern style pizza. Its one of the places I go whenever I get a chance.

Here is one we enjoyed in Necedah.

Didn't even think of that place! Though its not the typical fish-fry I'm looking for --- I'm looking for the "Stoh's" fish! That means nothing to anyone not from Indiana.

Decades ago this little town (Stroh) had a fish place that just set the standard...they licensed the recipe, to Gropps, Petersons, Pete's, and a few other places. They still exist but are definately not as accessible as they used to be.

This was the all-you-can-eat with a really light breading on a very very mild fish -- not the honkin' pieces of cod. Not that that is bad --- its just a childhood thing I'm craving the older I get.

70's military reference
from Vietnam,
also The Log magazine at Boat School ran a comic strip called "Bohica Brothers"...in the early seventies.

You can't make this stuff up --- a local technician just popped up on my radar --- newly certified ---- his busines sname is...bohica. Talk about tone deaf! In an industry KNOWN for screwing its customers...oh well.

There are a couple really good places up there. Dirty Turtle wasn't bad, Shipwreck bay has mixed reviews but I've always liked it and had good service. Little Crane is now "Tourist Trap" which is a simple non-nonse place. I've got other feelings about it -- but not appropriate here. There's also a place on the other side of the lake -- bit of a drive from Necedah called "The Family Affair" --- cozy place. But I think it wsa shutdown, torn down, and possibly rebuilt --- I can't speak for its new digs.

I'm really looking forward to some down time -- my life has been BUSY as all get out for the past few weeks, just not necessarily profitable :D

Thanks everyone for listening to by ongoing BS.

Interesting. I passed through some Route 66 towns today. Sad what’s happened to a lot of small towns. They’re just..dried up and abandoned.

In other news my truck threw a code for the MAF sensor today. Runs normally though. Something to figure out after camp is up.

The Family Affair restaurant is a favorite of ours also. It burned down, really tragic event. They have rebuilt it now and it is back open again.

I wondered what happened -- assumed it was something like that. The floors weren't very level, the atmosphere was guaranteed the make teens sneer...but the food was great! I'm a sucker for a good pancake house, and they nailed it! We'll be there for a few days - we'll likely stop in and say Hi.

I've got tools if you need 'em. Toss the cheap scan tool in the box if I remember.
