I stopped at a Buc-ees in Indiana and it took 45 minutes to get gas and pee. Didn’t have time to get more coffee. I don’t need 100 gas pumps just one I can pull into immediately. Here in Wisconsin we have Kwik-Trips and you can fillup, pee and get coffee in 4-10 minutes.
Not in Indiana --- closest is near Dayton, the next closest is in Kentucky - Lexington area, and Bowling Green. Last November, it made the news that they were sniffing around. I can't say I'd be upset if they did.
This kind of reminds me of Cabellas. Before the bass-pro debacle, so that is probably the bigger reason --- The wrong company won that battle. We used to make an annual prilgrimage to the north east side of the state near Gary. Now I have one 40 minutes from me and I make it there once every two years. Though that is probalby more that the selection of things I would buy is very little. The Cabellas canvas shirts were my go-to. A shirt would get weekly use and lasted for years before retirement.
Back to the beaver, last time I came through the bowling green location, the line to the pumps was to the exit ramp quite literally. When exiting the interstate, you hit the line for the right turn, and the line of cars extended bumper-to-bumper to the pumps. There was also a similar line of cars coming from the south bound lane of the interstate. Anyone waiting in that, probably should seek immediate psychological help.
I totally get your point. In the above case, I attribute it to weekend travel.
The Dayton (Huber heights) location was big, but not the biggest I've seen -- that is is the one in Dallas. However, we drove right in and parked in the second row right by the entry door. The pumps were mostly unoccupied. I'm sure on any given Saturday of non-work day at 2pm it would have been busy.
As far as the store goes, theres not much there. However, we really like their BBQ and Mrs Sweeney and I needed a road trip to anywhere. Just to get out of the house for a bit, so the drive was worth it alone.
