Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

Morning on the beach. It’s nice to step outside in shorts and t-shirt and be warm. Frost back home and snow the day we return.

What was it from Fried Green Tomatoes? Rewenge! or do I have the wrong movie....

I went up to Elkhart to learn about Truma equipment, some of which is used in Nu-Camp (Alde) is really slick! But more on that some other time....last 3 days have taken their toll on me -- starting at 4:30 on Tuesday, anding at 10:30 on Thursday with 3 long days of training between, and spending time with freinds I havn't seen in 25 years....kind of exahsuted.

I didn't check the weather before I left -- I mean I've been wearing shorts for 5 days....boy was this morning an unpleasant suprise!!!!

I wear shorts down into the 20’s but I might be wearing a coat and boots too. Here I’m in shorts, t-shirt and flip flops. This is the place to be in the winter or I think March and April. I love the winters in Wisconsin but they get long. By March I’m tired of the -30F and 20 mph wind. April is that month when snow and ice melts -it’s not winter and it’s not spring.

Thats a little behind us -- by about 4-6 weeks....though this year we've as recently as earlier this week played with freezing. Today, its just rainy and nasty which stinks becuase I've got 2 outside jobs that need to be done. Hopefully this burns off and blows over soon. Honestly, I don't want to do either of them but have no real choice. :(

Oh, end just to pour salt on the wound I killed my very nice deep cycel. Apparently I didn't plug int in, and left a light on inside. 4.6 volts and immediately my off-vehicle charger throws 'bad battery' error. Well crud. The recommended Lithiums are sold out for a few weeks backorder. I may try an alternative battery...but I'm not putting another lead acid in -- the lithium BMS will at least protect you from this. I'm so mad at myself.

I’m told my lawn will need to be mowed when I get home.

HAHA --- I did mine Monday I think - I"m ok for a few more days though I did put down fertilizer, and it has been raining here...but our temperatures are unseasonably cool.

I had been using a liquid fertilzier since my home is on a large lot -- pelletized became just too much effort. I call that a failure. I bought a bigger spreader and like the results I am seeing. Its a lot more expensive (about double) but worth it. Seems to be a lot greener and weeds a lot less.

I'm thinking about putting clover down -- as ground cover -- it adds nitrogen to the soil, and does not grow so a missed mowing ins't a problem -- plus -- it is a food source for honeybees.

I’ve thought of planting clover and raising bees.

The only thing 'stopped' me so far is what I want is probably different than I will get. What I WANT is a complete cover. 5 inches deep with no grass. I'm not sure that is acheivable.

Not even close. The one I killed was was at least the 3'rd one I did this too. The other two were never-start batteries. This one was a Fullriver DC85-12. In fact, I think you talked me into it.

BUT...in the interim years, lithium batteries have been proving themselves to me.

For comparison:

1] Walmart Never-Start batteries are $100 for something experience has taught will last 2 years.
2] The DC85 by fullriver are $392 right now. They are not managed, and suspectable to what I did .
3] Litime (not the one from CampInn) prices out at $360, has BMS and a good reputation, and double the capacity of the DC85.

Suddenly Lithium starts to make a awful lot of sense. So hopefully it will be here soon - exepcted between May 7 and 11'th...HOPING to get out that weekend with some friends I havnt gotten to camp with in a while.

I have killed at least 3 AGM batteries over the course of owning my last RV. Even bought a very nice battery tender for the off-season so they stay charged up in a climate-controlled space. Still dead batteries. The problem? I was too freakin' lazy to drive out to the storage lot, pull the battery from the 5th wheel, drive home and hook it up to the battery tender. Even when the battery cuttoff switch was OFF they still died. Plugged into the storage post? Still dead at the beginning of the season.

If this happened in my IT world, I'd call it a PICNIC and shuffle off back to my corner, where my dunce cap and stool await my inevitable return.

I dont' have the excuse of going to storage -- Serenity is quite literally 20 feet from me. I just got home tired and didn't plug it in...So, right now, chomping at the bit because as soon as it shows up - I'm taking a couple days off. :D

Serenity. I like it. Firefly reference?

All I can say is if you have A camper like this, you treat her proper, she'll be with you the rest of your life.
