Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

It’s 33F up from a low of 30 last night. The temperature isn’t too bad it’s that howling wind that chills you to the bone. The 15 mph wind makes it feel like 15F.

We'll be rejoining the mid-west roller-coaster weather in less than a week now, so hoping the snowblower won't required any further this season.;)

Thank goodness we seem to be on the back side of this :) Now, when we get 3 inches next week you know who to blame.

Back to my caffe americano....getting ready to drop the underbelly on a 28 footer today....all becuase an 80 year old wants to have just one more great summer with a early teen family member....I think I'm going to lose my shirt in labor on a dinosaur RV...but I'm a sucker for it.

Cooler week for us but nothing like some of you. Just about the last of having to wear a jacket or sweatshirt for the spring unless it rains. I was surprised at having to add a layer last night in Columbia for a track meet. Usually, Columbia is hotter than the surface of the sun.

The forecast LOOKS scary this week for us -- at least non-camping. 80% chanced of rain ....but what the photos don't show are it is from 4-5pm. Not a washout.

I have a couple customer calls today, but after that I think I'm going to come home and give Serenity a bath -- she is filthy! Then maybe take her out tomorrow - forgot to hit send - waiting on 2 phone calls then out to the drive to give baby a bath.

I’m currently at the Ark in KY. Four of us drove down on Tuesday and stayed at a Drury Inn. We will be heading home today.

You're passing right through my area! When you pass by Shelbyville Indiana wave :)

I'd say stop by for a coffee but I'm not there right now. I made an emergency trip to a state park 2 days ago - I'm at Summit Lake Indiana, which is north of New Castle. I'll be checking out this morning but I've got a couple customers that I need to help on the way home.

This is my first camping trip of the year — nothing special, just my usual style.

This campground is hit-or-miss. It has two nearly identical loops. Each has a heavily wooded section along the man-made lake with about 25 sites, while the rest is sparse trees or open fields. In those open areas, there are another 50 or so sites. I could look up the numbers, but I'm lazy. The fishing is supposedly decent, but that’s not my thing. There's a boat launch in the campground -- no wake --- its a quite place with a very dark night sky. If it weren't for people with LEDs on the caps. :\ The showers are old with terrible ventilation, and a urinal has had a “temporarily out of order” sign for years — typical sadly.

The real problem is statewide: the state keeps underfunding the DNR, so campgrounds suffer. Maintenance is poor, and prices are up $5–$15 per night from last year. Rarely is there a gate attendant except on weekends. They claim a $600 million surplus in the state, yet won’t properly fund the parks or cut taxes on things like Gasoline which we pay through the nose for.

Meanwhile, the state gives tax breaks to every data center and warehouse project (many sitting mostly vacant).

It’s disappointing, especially compared to Missouri, Florida, and Georgia, where state parks and campgrounds are managed much better with the campgrounds.

We were like a horse headed for the barn on the way home or I would have given you a call. I did get more decals.

It’s currently 28F after a low last night of 22. Wisconsin had a few tornadoes in the last few days but they were mostly close to the Illinois border. Nothing this far north.

Last night as my track meet was ending around 9:30 pm and I was boarding the bus to head back to Due West, SC where my school is located, I wished the meet had been on Saturday as originally scheduled. Now that is Saturday and over 90 here, I’m glad it was last night.

And what is Due West, SC west of? the town of North, SC.

I'm glad you made it home sefely. Sorry we couldnl't connect, but I certainly understand the desire to 'get home' is strong sometimes. Frankly, overwhelming. I have mastered the art of the coddiwomple -- that is to head with purpose towards an uncertain destintaion. What I mean by that is I have not figured out how to take side trips and slow down. I get behind the wheel and 'getereitis' sets in.

I can define a stop en route and be fine. But just to make that random "Oh, that looks interesting.." is beyond my ability. I seem to have a need for destination.

While these are not necessarily personal faults, which I have many,

I can say, I am not looking forward to 90's, for as much as I complain about cold. The sad thing is september through mid november and April-May and early june are prime time. Either of the other seasons is almost too extreme.

I think it’s how I plan long trips. I took six weeks to do Route 66 and planned on going 300 miles in a week. I set destinations to be at in a week but didn’t plan the daily stays. Sometimes I would drive 1,000 miles just to get 300 miles further along.

My problem isn't the planning --- its that I get in a hurry to get to my next stop, and I wind up missing the little side adventures. I tend just want to 'get there'

What I NEED to do is plan like plan like 3-4 hour daily travel -- then force myself to stop at 'things'

Its 43 here right now at 11am. Mother nature is off her meds again....
