Memory Foam Or Some Other Type Of Mattress Topper? Need Advice!

I tried it out last night in our driveway and was very pleased. I used mostly the medium spacing, but think I might stiffen it up a little since it will be possible. It certainly is comfortable for me. Lane will try it Thursday, the acid test. She'd better like it is all I can say.

I am a Froliite...

Our recent trip to Red Lodge, MT gave us our first opportunity to sleep on our Froli mat system, and I can say we slept well using it compared to the either the standard mattress alone, or the standard mattress with a memory foam topper. So our vote is for Froli. :)

Lane was lukewarm in her enthusiasm. I moved the softer springs and hope that it will make for happier hips. It's a great system. Easily adjusted.

Just recently got added a Mattress Topper from the My Pillow Guy and tested it out last weekend up in Vermont. We are testing it again next weekend (8/3 4 5) and will have it at the Camp Inn Camp Outt in September. When they shipped ours they threw in Two of their pillows at no charge and gave us a $100 of the initial msrp. Seams to work since I did not wake up at the first rays of sun rise but slept thru the birds waking me up till after 7AM. Will let you know how it goes after the next two trips. One thing to note because of the extra height you must listen for the latch when closing the doors.

Back again as Promised
The mattress topper from the "My Pillow Guy" is working out very well. It does make things a little taller, just above the green side retainer at the door. As I mentioned above you must make sure and hear the click when closing the door. (We replaced a ten year old egg crate topper.) We are planning to attend this years Camp Inn Camp Outt for anyone who wants to see one.

We slept in our camper for the first time the other night, and we both found the mattress to be harder than we would like. I was looking at the Froli system, and wondered whether any other side sleepers could comment on this question: for the expansion set, should I get the soft set or the regular for extra soft pieces for the hip area?

Also how much of a pain is it to access the under-bed storage once you set up the Froli? Will we still need a mattress topper to get a cushy sleep surface?

I copied Randy who ordered the Double Bed Package + 12 Pack Expansion, 108 pieces total. Both Lane and I have found it perfect and we are side sleepers. We also have a wool topper, but I think that is not necessary. It's just that we had already purchased it and decided not to waste it. It's a comfortable arrangement, and it doesn't make it any more difficult for me to get into the storage spaces underneath. It does, however, make it impossible to adjust the sofa seat at an angle. The seat is now flush with the topper and I cannot bring it up and forward into the angled position, unfortunately.

What's keeping it from being able to being lifted up? I'm not having any trouble. The Froli springs are well below the wooden rests that the couch sits in when it's in the seating position. I just lift it up onto the rests.

I'm glad you're having no trouble. I think it's that the topper is too long and too thick. If I could slide everything down a few inches more toward the foot of the bed, it'd be ok, but I can't manage that with the various problems my back gives me.

Sorry you are having trouble. I have back issues also but with the Froli haven't found that I needed a topper.

I have a 1.5 inch memory foam on top of mattress on top of the froli springs. In order to angle the sofa, I lift everything up at the top, position the sofa and then kind of tuck/squish everything back against the sofa.

With the expansion pack, did you get the soft or regular style?

I am also a side sleeper and find the system very comfortable. I copied Randy as well. I ordered the regular expansion pack. I used them all and they fit perfectly once I trimmed the outer side. The nice thing is you have options regarding the spacing of the springs. This will determine how hard or soft you want it. It is easy to assemble and make changes. If there are two of you, you can each have your side the way you individually like it.

I don't know that anyone will be able to accurately answer your questions, because which ones you choose will be different for different sized people, and then of course what's comfortable for one person won't necessarily be for the next when it comes to liking a firmer or softer bed to lay on. In our case, we are both side sleepers, but since I am quite a bit larger, she advised that I order the firmer springs for my side and the softer ones for Kris's side, which has worked well. Although I did put some of the softer ones in the shoulder area on my side as well. The nice thing about the individual springs, is that there is some adjustability to them to fine tune to your needs, where with the mat style you choose regular or firm, and that's what you'll have.

The Froli springs alone would have been perfect for us. Unfortunately I had already bought the topper. After using it over the green mattress, Lane didn't find it helped her hips enough. She has been really happy with the arrangement we have now. I do not think the topper is necessary at all once the Froli springs are properly adjusted. They are so easy to move around that getting the perfect level of firmness is a certainty. I am thankful that Randy did all the legwork on this as I wouldn't have known where to begin.

I think that if you order what Randy did, you will have plenty to work with to get the desired firmness. I wish that we had something as comfortable in our house. When my back is driving me nuts, I frequently spend the night in the camper and wake up far less cramped and miserable than I would have been had I stayed inside. Unfortunately it is beginning to get a little chilly in Maine and my nights in the camper are numbered. Maybe we should have ordered the furnace, and then I could live outside permanently. We did buy a 12 volt heated mattress pad which makes the sleeping bag toasty if I remember to turn it on 20 minutes ahead of time.

I'm certain that you will be happy with the Froli with all the adjustment it gives.

I bet it would, but I'm afraid I'd knock it over or inadvertently aim it at something flammable. Is there one you can recommend?
