In less that a week, we begin our journey east to Wisconsin. I have soooo much to do but in my excitement I can't tear myself away from revisiting everyone else's journeys and focus on getting things done. I love looking at all the pictures and re reading experiences.

I am putting together a list of gear. Due to three passengers and a dog, the plan is to not buy much gear until we pick up the trailer.

Oh well, guess I should sign off and get on with my preparations.

Joan, I can still relate to your excitement, even after three summers with our 550 Ultra. I know that there are a lot of lists and suggestions that have been made about what to bring, keep stowed in the teardrop, etc. The one thing that I think is really important is our camping journal. I find that it really helps to keep track of those bits of wisdom that happen when you camp in different places, where you were, great sites, etc. It is always in the camper, ready to go. Just thought I'd give my two cents worth. Congratulations and have a great trip!

Thanks Deb. I have a journal of sorts. I am writing things down as I put them in the car. I am also including things that I know that I will definitely need like the hitch ball but have not purchased yet. It also has slots where I putting instructions for the equipment. I keep telling myself that even if I don't remember to put it in the car, I should be able to buy it along the way.

Back to packing!

The way we prepared was to close our eyes and pretend we just arrived at our first campsite with an empty trailer in tow. As it turned out the only thing we forgot was an extension cord to plug into shorepower. We had the basic cookware, silverware, and two corkscrews just in case. You will do fine and like you mentioned if you forget something you can always buy it along the way. We picked ours up the first week of May and we shall remember the experience forever, it is a lot of fun and will lead to a lot of interesting adventures. Have a great time.

I know this post is almost 4 years old, but this forum has helped pass the time until we pick up our 560. We have 8 days to go until we get to Necedah to get our TD. We begin our first leg of our trip in 5 days, so tomorrow I begin the fun and exciting job of packing our camping gear. Much of it we have had for 27 years when we started tent camping, but some of it is new that we have been buying for the TD. Love the idea of a journal. Will go and pick one up tomorrow. Wish we had done that when we first started camping.

I think I'm worse than the kids were at Christmas. Might not get much sleep this week because of excitement.

Hi! I feel your excitement! Keep us posted! Cary will give you a journal you can use to document your travels. We write in it every day. There's space for mileage and destination and for national parks stamps. Very cool!

Cool. That will be neat to have a Camp Inn journal. Seven days from this very moment (EST) time we should be finishing up placing our camping items in our very own Camp Inn 560 Ultra. I can't wait.

Jenn,
I have been reading all the old posts. I just read about her rough trip in 2013, when her car broke down and the loaner was totaled by a deer. What a nightmare. I'm also keeping up with the current posts too.

Thanks rgupnorth! It's been fun to write! It is still a bit unbelievable that teardropping is our life! We are so happy!
