25K for Jeremiah

On our recent trip to New Mexico, we crossed 25,000 Miles and stand at 25,783 right now. We also made it to 200 nights and are currently at 205 nights spent sleeping in our 560 Ultra. It took us a little over 10 years to get here as we picked #720 on March 31, 2015.

In these 25K miles we have had a lot of fun and camped in 21 States.

In our first two years with Jeremiah we had two Long Hauls. The first took us to the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Parks. That first year, we camped more nights in Wyoming than any other state. The second Long Haul in 2016 had us in the Southwest with the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches, Canyonlands, and Mesa Verde National Parks plus a couple of nights in Santa Fe. Saw one of the few Camp Inns we have seen in the wild on that trip. A couple from Santa Fe with one happened to stop at the Hubbell Trading Post in Arizona at the same time we did. We did see another at Bryce, but never met the people in it. Those trips had 3 of us in the camper as our teenage daughter was with us. She slept across the seat curled up in a ball to fit. Not on that trip, but we have had her plus the two dogs in there with us. In 2016, Utah had more nights camping in it than anywhere else.

Top 5 States camped in:
SC - 73 (no shocker there with us living here)
NC- 19 (didn't realize we had camped this many nights here)
WY- 9
KY - 8
UT - 7

Top 5 Campgrounds
1. Oconee State Park (SC) - 28
2. Sadlers Creek State Park (SC) - 20
3. Lee State Park (SC) - 12
4. Keowee-Toxaway State Park (SC) - 9
5. Table Rock State Park (SC) - 6
5. Rolling View Campground in Falls Lake State Park (NC) - 6

Nights in the Driveway - 8 (all in 2020 with our cat Ginger joining us)

Highlights
1.Camped at Camp Inn for two nights when we brought Jeremiah back to be serviced in 2022. The camper there those nights was Bear and we loved meeting him.
2. Camping in Iowa with Ron and Missy. (Not sure how much they on the forum these days, but here they are on here as hiadventurer) Mary Ellen and MIssy had found each other on a teardrop group on Facebook.
3. The crab cake we had in Delaware when we camped at Trap Pond State Park.
4. Cooking fish, shrimp, and scallops from the Gay Fishing Company at Hunting Island (there shrimp boats were the ones in the Forrest Gump movie)
5. Camping in places I never would have tried with a tent. (we bought this to do the cross country trips)
6. A sunset picture of mine got used by Cool Tears Magazine on their social media a few years ago.
7. SC State Parks has a promotion called the "Ultimate Outsider" where you have a book you get stamped at each park. Do all of them and get a T-shirt and access to some things only offered to the Ultimate Outsiders. We did this in 2019 with the the help of our CI.

Surprises
1. Never camped in Tennessee although twice we could have walked to Tennessee from a campsite. The one night in Georgia was really that close. The Cumberland Gap National Park is in three states, but the campground is in Virginia.
2. Only camped in Georgia the one night. We live 20 miles from the state line.

Best Bathhouses
1. Chau Ram County Park in Westminster, SC (This is one you definitely want to be near the bathroom. It is at the top of a very steep hill)
2. High Falls County Park near Senceca, SC (same county as Chau Ram)
3. Foss State Park (OK) - individual showers with AC so it was not humid
4. Gulpha Gorge in Hot Springs National Park - door that locks, AC so not humid and lots of room.
5. Rolling View (NC) - Heated and we there Thanksgiving, massive exhaust fan for the summer months.

Best Campsites
1. Oconee Site 16 on the Lake Loop (Be there the second week or so of April and there will be baby Wood Ducks
2. Keowee-Toxaway State Park - Site 4 has great sunset views.
3. Lakeside sites at Sadlers Creek have really good sunset views.
4. Lee State Park - Site 4 is shady all day and that is important in the Sandhills of SC. It is separated from the others too. The Ranger will stop by and offer fresh vegetables from his garden.
5. Fruita in Capitol Reef NP - backed up to apple orchard. Plus the pies from the nearby Gifford House.

Funniest Story
At Fruita, an elderly woman came out of her tent in a negligee as the whole campground was either eating or cleaning up from breakfast. Everyone had a good chuckle. We all through our hands simultaneously too.

Other Camp Inns we have seen - 7 (the last one I saw drove by my house, but they live in the same town as us)

Great post, really appreciate your long insight and contributions here, @Warren Mary Ellen

Ya, that Campground at The Nest has to be used. Its even available in winter with a great pile of free firewood and key to the free shower in the factory...should have its very own BraveHeart badge...

if you dont chicken out like I did, ...
but in my defense it was my first night and out-running a blizzard that caught me on the way home...

Pictures from our 25K miles with Jeremiah starting with picking up in Necedah and our first camping trip in it at Oconee State Park. The cat inside was Indira (Himalayan). She loved the camper; we always had to check for a stowaway before taking off. The cat you’ll see is Ginger. He’ll sleep in it in the driveway with you. The pic with CI sign was 2022. One of the pics is along the Mississippi River in Bellevue, Iowa.

The pic with snowy mountains in the background is at the Grand Tetons. The checkered flags are at Lee State Park the weekend we were at a nearby NASCAR race. The sunset pic is the one Cool Tears magazine posted.

Enjoyed the pictures and have to admit Lexington BBQ is a favorite of mine!
