Has been years since we have been there. Something to see if everything is in bloom. Not sure where to camp though as we were there just for the day wen we went.

Welcome to the forum - you find a lot of useful information out here, along with many people that are willing to help by answering your questions.
I have added little rubber bumpers to most anything with a hard surface or edge that can move around in the galley. A smooth ride in the TV doesn't mean that the TD isn't bouncing around a little.
Read build or buy. I went through that research/analysis and what really detracted me from building was realizing that it may take a few builds to get things right and the ones in the learning curve might not have a very good return on the investment in materials and time.
Never been there in the summer. Usually has been late April or early May or late September. Spring was neat one year because there was the river running through in front of the dunes just off the parking lot. Quite a different perspective - I guess it doesn't happen every year.
There is a campground at Great Sand Dunes NP - worth staying there at least 1 night to catch sunrise and sunset on the dunes. Pick up groceries at the nearest town before you get there. Limited options at the dunes. Nice little restaurant out there that is open exactly 8 am to 8 pm.

One other thing you need to consider when you are talking about trailer width is how it trails behind the the TV (tow vehicle). The 5' wide trailer is ideal for most TV's.
If your looking for space for young kids - the 560 has that in mind.
