Thanks Greg, hope you had a wonderful trip home. Jim

    E-mail Access While Traveling

Thank you Pat, you described my problem almost exactly. If you read back through this thread you, Joan and a couple of others suggest that it has to do with "authentication". If so, how to resolve that is the issue. Others say that when away from home they just open Outlook or Express and...

    E-mail Access While Traveling

You guys are great. Between us we should be able to solve almost anything (with the possible exception of what Paul Revere had in mind). Jim

    E-mail Access While Traveling

Steve, I thought of that but my problem is not really wanting two email accounts (for a variety of reasons)and wanting to use something like Outlook or Outlook Express. I may need to rethink this. Thanks, Jim

    E-mail Access While Traveling

Sorry, my computer "acronyms" are somewhat limited. Seems to be something of a trend here. I first did go to rr.com and filled out a long form asking for their help. Waiting for the reply from somewhere, perhaps the far far east. Jim

    E-mail Access While Traveling

Thanks HTH (sardineman?). Perhaps a trip to the Verizon store will be of value. Jim

    E-mail Access While Traveling

Thanks again, I printed the four page instruction and will read it closely. I hate fooling with settings I know far too little about but onward and hopefully, upward. But somehow I know that before I am done I will have returned this household to smoke signals and semaphore flags. On a...

    E-mail Access While Traveling

I'm sorry, I used the term Novice before, I see now that I should have said "Junior Member" as the next posting plateau. Being in my 60's belies "Junior" anything but I love this forum even if I often do feel stupid. Jim

    E-mail Access While Traveling

Thanks Joan, we have much the same setup here as you do. I am hard wired via a cable to our cable provider (Time Warner). I have a Cisco Linksys Router that transmits throughout our home, and I suppose, the neighborhood. Mary Anne uses the laptop and is connected, via WiFi, to our network...

    E-mail Access While Traveling

Thanks Pat, the "authenticated server" issue is something new and now I am deeper in this unmapped maze then I was before. I will start some new research. Thanks, Jim

    E-mail Access While Traveling

Thanks Pat but Comcast is not available in my home area (Carlsbad, Ca. which is 30 miles north of San Diego). I really appreciate all these responses.

    E-mail Access While Traveling

Joan asked "What software do you use to access your email at home?" I use Outlook Express. Not as "interactive" as Outlook but does a very good job on just email. Yes, I leave "a copy" of my email on the provider's server (Roadrunner) and then when I access their website I can read and, in a...

    E-mail Access While Traveling

But "Internet Access" is not the issue, I want to have full email capability while away from home. We can all get internet access if our travel computers are WiFi capable, or simply go to a library or cyber-cafe. But aren't you still forced to use your "provider's" web-based server email? Jim

    E-mail Access While Traveling

I searched these "Forums" extensively and could not find any "technical" discussions about e-mail while on the road. Here is my issue: I have cable access at home (roadrunner.com) through Time-Warner. While traveling in the past, and currently for that matter, we access the Roadrunner web...

Air Conditioner The Scoop On 550 Ac

Hilditch, I guess I am a little surprised at your AC "performance" down in the Keys ("From 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM the AC was pretty useless.") I would have thought that with the small closed cabin and the insulation in the roof that you would have no problem staying cool even in the hottest...

Announcement New Raindrop Waiting To Be Picked Up!

Greg, We are still waiting for our "pick-up" date for our 560 Ultra but believe it to be late August/early September and we intend to follow much of your route back to the west coast before turning south for Southern California (Carlsbad, Ca.). I will have questions for all regarding where to...

Update T Minus 10 And Counting

LeoJan, Congratulations and an excellent discription of "memorable" days in our lives. Mine parallel yours almost exactly. We have until August so still a long ways to go to our 560 Ultra. Jim

    Are we having fun yet?

All most anything is good if roasted properly. A good sauce helps.

    Best Road Atlas?

It is pretty much just what is right there near any given exit. In looking at it right now I see that it also includes places where you can wash a trailer. Or "warsh" if you are from that part of town. :-)

    Best Road Atlas?

We have traveled extensivel by car and truck using all that was mentioned, Rand McNally, AAA books and GPS. I have to look at real maps (paper), the AAA books are great for discovering those out of the way places you might have passed up and the GPS is great for getting out of whatever you got...
