Water pump problem

Probably a freeze damaged water strainer. That is the round thing right below the water pump that has the clear plastic cover on it. Likely the clear plastic cover is busted from freeze damage and that is causing an air leak that does not let the pump draw water out of the pump. We are fixing one of these at the factory for a customer today with this exact scenario. To repair you would need to purchase a replacement water strainer and replace it.

My antifreeze of choice is a bottle of Russian vodka.
 
Went camping just a month ago and everything was working fine. I would expect that problem would have occurred then. And I always antifreeze the unit. Do you still feel it’s the strainer?
 
It is somewhere between the pump and the tank. There is only the strainer and the tank pickup in between. Could be a fitting that is loose and creating an air leak. Either way it is air is somehow getting into the intake line to the pump. I agree it would be strange that it was working and now it is not this long after spring time. Need to inspect the routing from the pump to the tank.
