Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

I’m off to Madison today for three days of State Basketball Playoffs. The local high school is going to state! Two more wins and we will be the Division 5 Champs.

Go Bucs go!
Almost…. Looked like a good game

Who’s the fake one?

Deer pr0n. I see this and I can't help but see a video from a decade ago....G-d help me.

That said! More details alter, but SKETCHY camping, Broken Glass, more sketchy camping....oh, its been a week already! Its only monday!!!!

Heading home - spent the past few days helping a friend with a roof that needed to be replaced.

That is a heck of a job! 2-3 days, and $14,000 later......yup. Glad I own a CampInn!!!!

Tomorrow, I will stop at a QT and probably a Buc-ee's!

For the last several years, as we do our daily walks around the nearby lakes at our AZ winter home, there has been an owl we keep an eye out for who nests in a palm near the walking path and has a brood about this time each year. I try to capture her in a photo, but with usually mixed results...more often not so photo worthy. Someone else came up with a great photo of her this year, and her birth announcement made the local HOA newsletter.

Very cool.

At the height of pollen season here so everything is green at the moment. Heading to Mooresville, NC. to see our daughter. While im there, I’m going to watch one of my former runners compete in a college track meet. Sounds like we are going out for Korean BBQ to celebrate our daughter’s 28th birthday.
Got to watch my former runner win the Mile and set a school record for her college at the meet.

Tell us more.
It was a cold, windy day and I left my sunscreen at my daughter’s house so my face got cooked. AP is a freshman at Davidson & her dad is my principal. My school is a class A school of 350 kids so she was overlooked by a lot of people. Great kid, but if you race her she will make you question some of your life choices.

In her race yesterday, she ran a smart one like she normally does. Ran the first two laps in 4th place out of the wind. Just past the halfway point as lap 3 started, she made her move surging to the lead. Where the picture was taken she had about 150 meters to go and her lead was around 15 meters or so. Finished at 4:59.44 which is a school record at Davidson. This was actually the first time she had ever won a race on her school’s track, high school or college, as the high school I coach at doesn’t have a track anymore. It was also her first time racing on a home track.

Only the third time she’s run an outdoor Mile race. She ran it twice for me & then yesterday. In high school we mainly run the 1600 meter run which is a little short of a mile. Collegiately, they compete in the 1500 meter run & the same when you watch the Olympics. A few meets will do it to try to draw in schools with distance runners to their meet.

Had a great day with her family watching her race. Her younger sister is still running for me. I like coaching the throwing events & we were near the Shot Put & Discus so I I liked watching those events too.

I was told by the track coach I replaced that she would just be “ OK.” The first race she ran for me, I knew she was a special competitor and he was wrong.

I never got the sports gene - skipped me completely. Not to say that I am not competitive, I just run more towards competitive eating :)

People who can push through the pain of running - I'm not sure if I am scared of them or fear for them.

I'm back from Texas - I had another run down there, this time for a roof that needed replaced, not a hard job per say, but a lot of work especially for some one who's blood is still atuned to 45-55 degree temperatures. 40 weight. Those people down there run 0w16, of that I'm convinced.

I had an interesting experience -- I stopped at Village Creek State Park in Arkansas - I've been there twice now. I'm honeslty impressed with their facilities. The shower/bath were all very nicely apointed. Well Done Arkansas. But I had something very wierd happen. I woke up at 5:30 with a start - it was windy and honselty I thought a limb (a big one) had fallen on the camper. I got up, looka round and saw nothing. It was 5:30, an hour before I planned to awaken ... so I just unplugged the camper, checked my lighting and pulled out.

When I got to my next fuel stop the passenger side glass was broken out - the sliding portion. I tend to be right lane oriented, meaning I keep in the right lane - I"m not sure where or how something could have gotten kicked up to break it -- I'm wondering if an owl or some big bird flew into that window and shattered it? I have no idea. But I suspect whatever it was that 'Rocked' the camper is what broke the glass. It was extremely dark when I left that state park - I never noticed glass on the ground but I didn't do an extremely through pre-flight since I never unhooked.

Either way, I got to my camp site (the work-site where we did the roof) where I got a spooky feeling - nothing specific, nothing preternatural -- just the "Not here..." feel. So, I mooch docked at my customers home.

I used a roll of eternabond to patch up the hole where the glass was - that stuff is amazing. DO NOT and for emphasis DO NOT!!! allow eternabond to stickon anything you don't want it to be there forever. The name is truly correct. Its not a super structural stength, but it is a goopy elastic rubber that never comes off. I had ordered a replacement window already, so I just allowed it to stick to the black ring -- and it worked fine. Make it home without issues.

I also replaced the motor in my Maxxair fan - it started chirping with each revolution last year or the year before. Just anoyingi enough to keep me awake or require me to run the AC fan to drown it out. $100 for the part, but that was money well spent! So much quieter!!!

Hoping for a warm day with no plans so I can fill a bucket with hot water, and soap to get baby cleaned up. She's looking a little rough around the edges. I may even Walbernize it. Definitely needs some lovin'
