Teardrop curtains

Now that we have put >20,000 miles on the TD, and it's been over a year, I figured it was time to have the curtains cleaned (also there's some mildew-looking stuff on the door curtains.) The tag says "dry clean only," but my drycleaner says they won't do them because their solvent could melt the plastic clips and/or the clear plastic tape the clips are riveted to. Has anyone hand-washed their's? If so, does the underside of the clear plastic tape dry out? Before I went ahead I thought I'd ask if anyone has had to deal with this. Thanks, Kathy
 
I made new curtains, hung them on a cafe rod. No new holes eithers, able to use the predrilled holes from the track. Works with the door screens. Removed the stock track, stored in a closet so far.

We took our curtains - 560 built in 2012 - to the local Du-Rite dry cleaners and asked about the danger of dissolving the clips. The manager indicated he would personally test by hand the effect, if any, on the plastic. The outcome was all curtains are dry cleaned and there appears to be no damage. His caution was "They need to be done by hand.." Whatever that means was significant to him. The cost was $30 for six curtains.

Hi, Wendell. thanks for the follow-up. I finally just washed them in the washing machine and hung them on a drying rack to dry. The fabric behind the plastic dried just fine. Putting them back is a little bit of a pain, but they are back in place, ready to go.

Kathy,

The curtains go on pretty easy. They don't have to slide on to the end like they came off. Just push them on the the track and they snap in place.

Sliding them on from the end would be a pain for sure.
