Thanks all! Cool to hear back from folks on the forum.
I had Little Hoot out for a ride today. I mention this because part of my preparation was to change tow vehicle, which I decided to purchase a 2014 Subaru Forester. The 2014 Forester was redesigned to include a lower tow weight than previous model years. I found it was a breeze to tow with the Forester. Of course the biggest hill I could find in Florida nearby was the bridge.
From my experience today, I don't anticipate any problem in the mountains. By the way, I had all gear onboard.

I will be towing with an Element but have been thinking that if I have any problems or it becomes time for a new tv that the Forrester might be my choice.
When I was in Florida I went over an overpass that said it was the highest elevation in Florida. I really had to chuckle when you compared it to the mountains.

Haven't even ordered ours yet, still pulling money together but already know what we are going to call it...Roadtrip'n or Rd Trp Inn.
JavaJack, Giving her a name makes it a sure thing. Impossible to back out after you have a name. I hope everything works out soon so you can get your order in.
Thanks. It will happen, it is just a matter of time. Have a bunch of stuff to sell off first (Boat, camper shell, dirtbike, etc.)

As much as I really want to and have had to fight very hard to keep myself in check, I need to make sure I have a complete path to full payment without taking out a loan. I have worked my tail off to get debt free and I don't want to put myself in some unexpected position that would require me to take out a loan so I could pay it off.
I am confident I will get there before EOY, I am just not comfortable deficit spending.

Turtle Beach Campground had no reservations available for tonight, but I decided to drive up late this afternoon anyway. With you both being on vacation time,I left you a note under a rock on your picnic table at campsite #47 - not sure if you were doing a late check-in or altered your dates. Perhaps our travel paths with cross at a later time; hope so.
WOW, that campground has great access to the beach. Last Memorial Day I parked in the public parking right next to the Turtle Beach Campground and spent the day at the beach there.

Pat, I wanted to reply to you about backing up. I had been told by some of the guys at work the smaller the trailer is the harder it is to back up, so I had that on my mind as a concern. When the time came to back up I took a deep breath, put both hands at the bottom of the steering wheel and made minor adjustments. It worked out just fine.....and it was straight when I got out to check! Yippy!
My favorite additional item on my vehicle is the back up camera. Of course it doesn't help backing up with the camper hitched. But, initially backing up to the trailer to hitch up puts me right there! I mean within a half inch, which a little easy nudge and I'm set to lower and hook up.
I can't help but remember as a kid crossing country with my folks, and how my brother and I got very quiet and well-behaved when it came time for my parents to back up to hitch and go.....it was always a show, and dead silence for at least a few miles down the road. Mom wasn't very skilled at guiding Dad....a few inches to the left, a few inches to the right....ok, now straight back. My Dad would have had a back up camera in a New York minute just to keep the peace.

A lot of people have told me that the biggest mistake is too much correction. It won't be long before I'll be finding out. Spring is coming

Teardrops back like a long trailer, not a short utility trailer. It is because of the distance from the ball to the axle is much further on a teardrop than on a utility trailer.
