Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

We weren't able to stay long enough to enjoy the pot-luck, but did enjoy our three nights there seeing old friends, and meeting a few new ones!

It was just our second trip towing the TD with the Silverado EV, and it went even better than the first.

I wasn't sure if recharging at the campground would be possible, so did stop in Tomah on the way there to make sure we could get back there to charge for the trip home if needed. As it turned out we were able to charge at camp.

Initially the charger at camp was shutting down after a few minutes, but found it was a user impatience error using the GM portable charger. Once figured out, it slowly recharged, and we timed it to reach 100% just shortly before our departure on Saturday.

We did stop by the park office as we left, and told them that we had successfully charged our EV while in camp, and didn't want to take advantage of the sites included electric intended for powering RV's, and gave them about double of what it would have cost us at home for the same amount of charge we added to the truck, they were surprised, but did gladly accept our offering. It was still a lot less than going to one of the fast charge power stations along the freeway, but since we were there for three days, we didn't really need the expensive fast charge infrastructure in this case.

I did meet some new (to them) Camp-Inn 560 owners Mark & Jan, who had recently bought a used 560, and were towing with a Ford F150 Lightning EV. They set-up across the road from us, and were struggling just a little with putting up their side tent for the first time, so I stopped by and offered a hand figuring it out. It was nice meeting them and seeing another EV TV in camp.

We got home about 6pm after dropping the TD off at its home in the hangar, having traveled 278 miles from the campground, with 25% charge, and 107 miles of range left showing on the battery meter.

I promised Postman a couple pics of the bike rack setup with the TD so will include a few here.

I’ll be ordering my Lectric bike as soon as it goes on sale. Thanks for letting me test yours.

You're more than welcome! I would have gladly let you try it for an hour or two just to get a chance to put it completely through its paces. They do seem to have sales about every other week, especially in the fall / holiday season.

If I remember right, we got ours just before the 2nd to the last year we were in area A for the CICO (2022?). It was the year Bill & Cindy Evans had their 550 shined up to a mirror finish, and sold it shortly after that CICO.

Kris never got use to the feeling of the power assist kicking in, and the slight delay before it stopped assisting when she quit pedaling. She kinda of felt like she was losing control, so we ended up selling hers after about a year.
I sure have liked having mine, especially during our camp outings, and I think they have been able to improve their power assist algorithm so that they have a smoother on/off power assist.

I’m getting the off-road model which will be perfect around the homestead. I can even get studded tires for the winter.

Yes, early Sunday morning
Duck hunting for northern Juneau County started on Sep. 26, but that is for the area north of Hwy 21, which runs East/West through Necedah. The park is several miles south of 21 and duck hunting for southern Juneau County starts Oct. 3. Although that would be shotguns. However, people sometimes "interpret" the dates as guidelines rather than hard and fast rules...

I’m still here. We’ll be leaving tomorrow morning. This is a beautiful area. The temperatures this time of year are perfect—slightly cool, which is fine. With the inclement weather missing us, we couldn’t have asked for better weather. Then, the friends started showing up. Conversations from a year ago picked up right where they left off. This is truly a special group of people.

The flies have gotten aggressive - over the weekend they weren't bad, but today that has changed - they are horrid.

It was empty yesterday, even more so today. A couple of people were pulling out, and a teardrop from another loop was departing. It’s just so quiet.

I was a little concerned that one of our ‘clan’ members was living up to Craig’s shirt. We had a 520 sitting by us last night, empty. But this morning, they picked it up when I wasn’t looking. I assume all was well.

Now, the only trouble is that they roll up the sidewalks here in the off-season. So, we’ll be scouting out some firewood and having one last meal on the grill here soon that I need to get supplies for.

Tomorrow is our travel day. Mrs. S. will be heading home directly; I’ll be heading home through South Bend to see a family member I haven’t seen in a while. I really wish there was a way to avoid Illinois completely, particularly the traffic of the northeast. It’s too far to head home via the UP, which adds seven hours. It may be worth it.
