Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

Its going to be 90F tomorrow with a relative humidity of 75%. Glad the a/c is working.
We were in the mountains of N.C. this weekend. Drove up to Mt Mitchell and at 6600 feet the temps were in the low 60s. Pretty windy too so we we had on jackets to go up the observation tower at the top.

Home in the humidity of Upstate SC loading up Jeremiah to head to camp at Edisto Beach State Park on the coast to find possibly even more humidity.

The weather guessers are now saying we will receive 4.05” of rain in the next five days.
Hope they get those hay bales picked up before that, or are they the plastic wrapped ones...couldn't tell form the pic.
Supposed to be a heat index of 105 degrees today (actual temps in the 90's with humidity in the 90's+, and dew points in the mid 70's), and similar, but slightly cooler for the rest of the week. Next week is looking beautiful!

They were picked up early yesterday morning. They weren’t wrapped which usually means they will use it right away. I lease the land out to a dairy farmer. The hay isn’t good enough for milk cows so he feeds it to his horses.

Please help a city boy understand something. What are all those rolled up balls I see in farm fields across the fruited plain? And why do they seem to be left in fields for long periods of time? It seems I see them everywhere I see a big field.
They leave them because there is more hay then demand. The tax savings on agriculture land over recreation land is substantial and its less expensive to harvest the crop and leave it than to pay recreation tax.

Thanks.

So what eventually happens to all the hay left out in the fields like that?

Visiting my aunt and uncle in the N.C. mountains. Went in to Asheville & there is a pinball museum. We played for about an hour or so. My mother is with us and somehow she didn’t know we played pinball as kids.

If you;ever get a chance, look at the galloping ghost in Chicago. They have a pinball and video arcade. I’m a video gamer myself.

The sounds brought back so many good memories. Worth the trip.
