Itinerary International Redwood Gathering 4 (irg4)

WE had really wanted to, had the MID-July dates woke into our schedule. The end of July dates messed us up! Perhaps in 2 years we can make it. I am sooo bummed.

But heading up to see the Sea Lions next weekend!

Sorry it didn't work out for you this time. :(

Dean can't announce specific dates prior to the day after New Year's Day because that is the first day anyone can sign up to use Pamplin Grove. So he goes with a 1st, 2nd & 3rd choice of dates. Then it depends on who is at the county parks office first. Pamplin Grove is very much in demand. Dean camps in the parking lot there 3-4 days ahead of time to try & be first in line but it's not a guarantee. Any one in that area is welcome to join him or just stop by for a visit. He does a lot of DO cooking & usually has a prime rib roast for New Year's Eve. :)

Well, we are officially ...

Loading up the Camper and off to IRG,
Redwoods that is, Dutch Ovens, Site seeing,
New people to meet.

Yup, sent in reservations last tuesday when the list was around 50 and we made it at #92....

Jenn - when it gets closer maybe we can exchange itineraries(sp) to meet up.

Evan & Lena - looking forward to meeting you this time. I almost hate to say much and jinx myself after not being able to make it last time at the last minute :(

We are open to any suggestions of sites to see on the way out or back.

As of today, January 14, registration for the IRG is CLOSED. Because mail is slower from some areas, Dean will honor registrations postmarked January 14th or earlier.

If you did not mail your registration prior to January 14 & still want to go, Dean usually starts a waiting list, as there are always cancellations, but you will need to get on the list.

Looks like Camp-Inn will be well represented...count stands at 11 Camp-Inns, with the newest being Stephen & Shirley's #(TBA) & the oldest being Tina & Jerry's #136! This is the most Camp-Inns ever at the IRG!

Also, it looks like Tina & Jerry will travel the farthest to reach the IRG4 - 2,235 miles one way (not counting all the extra travel going & coming ;) )

Already planning the extra's along the way...Also looking to bring in another Pin for our campinn - The long haul. Will be keeping my journal of the trip.

Here's a bit of info for those who are registered for the IRG4 & those who would like to get on the waiting list.

Dean posted this on the T&TTT forum:

"For others wanting to sign up:
PM me with your request and I can put a "hold" on your name. We got two days of 20+ deliveries and that kicked up the reg. count above 100, which was a limit that Joanie and I set up. We are able to go over the 100 regs. since so many arrived simultaneously and we have NOT exceeded the limit of 250 individuals set by the County of Humboldt."

"Addendum from Joanie> the Teardrop Nanny
this event is for all of our enjoyment and many of you have attended it before and know how it works. For those who haven't, here is an important
Reminder:

"This is festival style camping with shared camp spots and many of the established sites have a fire pit and picnic table. If you want a private spot ALL OF YOUR OWN, consider paying a daily fee and camping down the road about a mile at the Swimmer's Delight campground. We have had this many people and vehicles before at the Pamplin Grove IRG, so we know we can all fit, especially if trailers get the space/priority over the vehicle using it for parking. You may have to park your vehicle a short distance away from your trailer.

"And please......
don't get your panties in a twist if you are asked to move your tow vehicle to accommodate a space for a TD trailer. Or because you are parked upon the green vegetation OR blocking access to the bathroom area(s).

"Thanks for your cooperation and understanding so that everyone has ample opportunity to camp and enjoy the place.

Jenn,
growing up amoung the Redwoods, do you have places of interest to recommend we visit?
We have begun to researching and send for brochures, etc...but I think alot of the best kept secrets to see are probably along the backroads or via word of mouth. Less touristy (is that a word?)
tina

Tina,

Dean gave us some good pointers & Joannie has a "travel nook" all set up at the IRG with brochures of things to see & do.

I'll bring you some stuff when we get together & share with you the places we went as well as those we didn't get to but will definitely take in next time.
