PS: the app referenced is OnX which has replaced Gaia as my go-to, since the latter got bot out by Outside and requires cumbersome login via website, unavsilable in no cell areas...;(
OnX is great for boondocking and hunting as it shows private property boundaries and ownership, so you can get ok to use gates to get to public land.
There is a funny story behind the gate on this one and note you can get to the high spot on the trip near beginning on Chariot Canyon where it crosses the PCT with your CI if you have decent TV clearance...and AWD if you go slow and air down in a couple soft spots...
I wouldnt go downhill though on Rodriguez Canyon with a CI unless you have 4x4 and a friend plus a come-a-long or winch to haul the CI out or turn it around to go back the other way...just saying...
Once you are down on the county highway its a great trip, and check out Agua Caliente state campground for the hot springs- $10 day use fee, and camp free in Little Blair Valley- pictographs and a Dark Skies place- good stargazing in winter especially...
