Angus was my Scottish great-grandfather's name...always liked that one. Or you can go watch the movie "Brave" and write down all of those names (I bet Katie would be awesome with that. Maybe Merida?) :) Or you could go watch Braveheart and write down all of those names. You are bound to find something in those lists! The Scotts have some great names.
 
Thanks for the input. We went with Bess - a good Highlander lass. (Lena just wasn't that excited about Haggis). :)

Things get more official every day. I'm enrolled in Grays Harbor Community College in Aberdeen. We signed the lease on an apartment there yesterday, and we have our first set of potential renters coming to look at our house today.

Interesting side note: Don't iPad and drive. Lena got a ticket two years ago for using her iPad as a nav device while driving (she picked it up while at a red light). It showed up as a criminal offense on her background check! (for the apartment rental). Wow - didn't know I was married to a criminal. Makes me wonder what other dark secrets I don't know about... :)
 
I need an AA before I can be accepted in seminary. Hopefully, we move east by next summer.
 
Evan, looks like a beautiful area to live while you study. Lena and Katie will probably have more time to enjoy it than you.

So, I officially started phase 1 of my AA program yesterday, and now I have 10 college credits (need 90 for the degree). Woohoo!
 
Congrats on your official start, Evan! You know you're going to look back on the coming couple of years and wonder how it actually went by so FAST, don't you? Good luck with your studies.
 
So, I've passed 4 CLEP tests so far and have 20 credits. Summer classes don't actually start until July 1. On the advice of an admissions counsellor (at Seminary) I'm taking two quarters of Spanish. (There's a big need for ministers who can speak the #2 language in the US).

I need 90 credits total for the AA, and if things go well I should have it done by the end of winter quarter. In three more weeks we will officially be confirmed Lutherans, and then I'll send in the applications to both seminaries - Ft. Wayne & St. Louis. We'll go wherever I am accepted. If I don't get accepted for 2014, then we'll go the following year.
 
Good work, Evan. That's a huge accomplishment. I'd agree with your advisor re the Spanish; it will be a big help to you. How I wish I'd been required to take that in high school and college rather than French!

CLEP stands for College-Level Examination Program. If you pass the test, then the college will give you the credit for that course. The CLEP program is nationwide, but it is up to each college to decide which courses they will let you CLEP out of. The reason I chose Grays Harbor is because they will let me CLEP for 45 credits out of 90. So, if I pass all the tests the AA will take one year instead of two. A typical college year is 9 months - that's how I could be done by the end of winter, even with no prior college experience.
 
CLEP is a GREAT program and was instrumental to me in getting my undergrad degree. We (in the military) also had DANTES, which was like CLEP but just for military folks. In the end I only took 2 in-residence classes for my undergrad!!! So, keep it up, Evan and you'll knock it out before you know it.
 
I've taken my share of CLEP and DANTES. I just completed the requirements for my associates this morning but due to a change in my major none of those tests transferred. Should finish my BS this time next year.

Keep it up Evan and enjoy the time learning, I find it so much more interesting now than when I was younger.
 
Yesterday I passed American Government. So 5 out of 9 tests down!
Next is psychology.... :( Not my favorite.
