Itinerary 8th Annual Camp-inn Camp-outt

Jean,

We will be renting a Camp Inn... and we have no experience to read about. That's why we decided to make the 1100 mile journey from Virginia. Just as you suggested we thought spending time with other owners would help us decide if this is really the way we want to travel.

A tour of the factory is on our "to do list" and after reading what Betsey had to say about Friday we'll plan doing that on Saturday. As for the Cranfest, maybe we can hit it Sunday on our way out of town... we'll just tack it on to our 22 hour ride home.

I agree with Jean. If this is your first time out, enjoy the camping and experience the campinns, factory, and other campers. Unless, you won't be able to make it back to another Campinn/campoutt.

In all the years we've been going, we've gone to Cranfest once. We went early morning to miss the masses of people. It is just like being at Taste of Chicago, wall to wall. Now some people like shopping like that, but me, just send your order with some of the other folks going and kick back and relax at the campground. The best people are there...

Having been for my 1st time last year, The cranfest is OK, but I think the best show is the tour of the CI plant. It is very interesting being able to see 1st hand how the CI is constructed. The folks at CI have a great product and are not afraid o show it. I did both last year. My vote is the CI tour.

Yes, I agree with George...the Camp Inn tour is my choice over Cranberry Fest any day of the week. It's always great to see the shop, the builds and any new projects that are going on.

What is the drop-dead date that you need to know by?

Sunday, September 25...the day it ends! :D

Don't worry about it...I know you will be here if you can...I just like to know who is coming so I can be sure to make a name button for them & to be sure we get enough stuff for the ice cream & cobblers & Sunday's breakfast.

I will leave you on the list (the power of positive thinking)! :)

Safe travels!

I have sent out emails (123 to be exact) for the Camp-Outt. If you did not receive one and are planning to attend, please let me know & please include your email address as I need to have you on the list for future updates.

For those who did not receive an email but did let me know you are attending, I need your email address to add to the group.

Thanks!

Ok Betsey, we're a definate MAYBE. We want to come REALLY BAD but have to be in Arkansas to get our house leased and that's the only thing that may interfere. But we're being hopeful and are taking MiniMc with us when we leave here in August. That way we can leave straight from there and head up north. So make us the badges and here's my email: ladymc53@yahoo.com See ya'll there!

PS: I am so messed up - I went back to the beginning of this forum and saw where you posted a link to the Camp Inn/Camp Outt , clicked on it and was reading away (thinking it was about THIS year,) when I realized it was about LAST year....Am I missing something? I saw where you posted about the T-shirts but is that for this year or last?

The link at the bottom of the post that is labeled "Link to 2010 Camp-Inn Camp-Outt" takes you to last year's (2010) Camp-Outt. I always post the previous year's link at the end so people who aren't familiar with the Camp-Outt can see what type of questions were asked, info shared, & comments on that year. Last year, I couldn't do that on this forum as last year was the first year for the forum & if I had posted the CICO link from 2009, it would have taken you to one of the other teardrop forums, which, unless you are a member, would not be accessible.

Except for the Camp-Outt number & dates, the general info in the first post does not change from year to year. This is also posted on 2 other teardrop forums.

The info in this year's announcement on T-shirts & sweatshirts is the same as it has been in previous years...I will let people know around Sept. 1 the specifics on ordering shirts.

Thanks Betsey! If we want to come in on Thursday, what's the earliest we can be there? We may end up leaving Hot Springs early that week and mosey on up and get there early.

Great! Just what I wanted to hear! That'll give us time to explore AND sit around the campfire - I love the later best!

I would love to know how to make pizza in a DO.

First a question to you...... Do you make pizza at home now?

If the answer is yes, do the same thing, you just have to watch the diameter of the pie. Same dough, same toppings, same cheeses.

Now comes the DO part.
1. Set the pie on a piece of parchment paper that will extend up the sides of the DO
2. Preheat the DO. full ring of coals bottom and top.

3. Pick pie up with the parchment paper and set into DO

4. Replace lid, add up to 4 coals on lid and bake about 15 minutes. Sit down wind so you can smell the aroma. Your nose will tell you when it is done. or You can peek. The look will be the same for a pizza that is ready.
5. Lift pie out by grabbing the ends of the parchment paper, and keep a little tension on it while lifting. set on a temp proof surface, let cool a bit and then slice. O h yeah, be prepared to be knocked out of the way by your hungry associates.

Trying to prepare for Necedah in September - what's the average/normal temp for that time of year in Wisconsin? We wear shorts at Christmas in Houston most years...I'm thinking jeans, hoodies, light jacket? Are there lots of bugs that time of year? I want to bring the Northern Breeze and Bill doesn't want to - but I'd like to see if we can figure out how to set the thing up! But if we don't need it for bugs we'll leave it here. Anyone? Thanks!

Bugs aren't usually an issue by that late in the year.

Temps? Probably jeans & sweatshirts for those from a warmer clime. The temps have ranged anywhere from borderline freezing overnight (with rain/sleet/snow) & daytime of mid 40's to high 70s/mid 80s. Both those were not the norm. Typically, it's 65-70s during the day; 50-60s overnight. Being on the lake & in the shade, it will also be cooler than when you leave the park. Also more damp in the evening. We usually get some rain (usually just a shower or two), but with the 75ft. dining fly, there's always a dry place to hang out & visit.

Sounds like we need to bring the Northern Breeze. Those temps were what I expected cept a bit cooler but didn't think it would rain...hmmmm....yeah, NB is a must I think...I like to sit out a lot.
