I'll be bringing a "Wine & Cheese" platter... not up to Stephen's standard to be sure, heheh, but helps the cause... and the blender of course - Margaritas... for general use...

Have a great time at the gathering everyone. Wish I could be there but I have to head up to the Elwha River and check out the dam removal.
 
Daryle, the dams have been removed, so there is nothing to see. If you want to see a dam, come on down to Mossyrock. :cool:
 
Yah, that's what I thought, Damm Dams are gone thank Gawd...
But then thought Daryle might be an engineer or something along the lines of an inspector..heheh, to see the affect..
I dunno.. Dams are gone, they are back at Mossy...

I'm a student at UW studying environmental science. The dams are not completely gone, they are scheduled to be finished September 2014. However the amount of sediment behind the dam is much higher than expected so it may take longer than projected. Either way I'm going up there to do a water quality study and see the impact the dam removal has had on the watershed. It will be fun but I would rather be joining you all.
 
We got a private tour of the two dams just before they started taking them down. We spent a day talking to those involved with the project and it seemed like their biggest worry was with the sediment. The scientists could model it all they wanted but it seems that they just did not have enough experience with this type of event to be very confident of the results. Of course, the other big issue is the return of the fish. Why the tribe decided to build a hatchery to speed up fish restoration is a mystery. The fish seem to be doing a good job without anyone’s help.

Ugh. Took the car in yesterday because the A/C was making a strange noise. Yesterday it didn't make the noise for the first time in a month. Today they were able to reproduce both noises...all of this is good. Parts aren't there until tomorrow around lunch time, not so good. They said the repair time is about 2 hours. I need to have it done since we have a week of warranty left and it falls under that, so I might be delayed a day coming up to the campground. We'll just have to see how things are looking traffic wise tomorrow afternoon. Portland speeds up and fills up in the summer (and becomes my most difficult tolerance...I really need to move to a smaller community, seriously). If I am not there on Thursday, we WILL be there Friday morning.
 
My wife, Ani, and I stopped by the Roundup on Fri. to meet the group and ask lots of questions. We have a contract in hand for a 560, but wanted to discuss options with experienced users before proceeding. Big thanks to Evan, Sarah, Joan, and all the others who so generously shared their experiences and recommendations. This is a great group of people and we look forward to meeting up with you again!

Ditto! Thanks to everyone who made it! It was so so good to catch up with folks and to make some new friends. It is always such a great time.

Thanks to Stephen and Shirley for securing the spot (I think the moles took the weekend off to give us a bit of peace...at least until this morning).

Thanks to Frank too! Despite your not liking children, you sure brought some great things for them (and us big kids too!).

We are off on our next big adventure. Mick took ".e" home and gave her a bath and put her to bed. Laddy and I battled terrible traffic and finally made it to Anacortes to meet up with my folks. We set off tomorrow for more fun visiting some of our favorite places. Laddy was asking why we couldn't bring the trailer. Just shows how much we love that little camper.

Happy week everyone! Hope to make it to CICO to meet many others! Oh, and looking forward to seeing more pictures from the weekend too!
 
I just got back from the PNW Camp-Inn Camp-out (CICO) at Mossyrock and it was fun.

Apx12-15 Camp Inn Trailers were there with some tenting that had theirs on order or about to order.

Weather was nice, warm, not too hot, a little buggy. I did the Mt Rainier Scenic Railroad and was able to ride in the Engine Cab compartment. I used to think the engineers just fell asleep and waved at the crossings, but noooooo….. it was interesting.

Engineer and Fireman/Tender were constantly looking at gauges and adjusting. Tender would tend to the fire/power and engineer would decide how much power/speed etc is needed. (A-hem, also steer it)

It looked much like a Manuel carburetor where you had to mix the fuel, air, temp constantly with knobs/levers… you’ll see the fire coming out the fire box… and note the oil can right next to it. Doh !!??? when going up grade, more power, the flame would pop out like the chugging sound you hear…

fun, would recommend the cab ride on any train if they have the option.

Good/nice “Green Box” thing and the finale was the Peach Cobbler cooked in a cast iron. A pizza cooked with the Cobb Cooker was right up there too.

Minimal photos as I was busy doing stuff… more next time.
Park is nice, about 5 different parks in the area..

Thanks everyone for the great week end. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and touring the teardrops. I like the little personal touches and storage ideas. I'm looking forward to shopping. I'm starting out with a little tool kit, Sarah. Thanks for sharing yours. I'm not picking my teardrop up till spring. It seems like a long time to wait but a month has gone by since I sent my contract back.Only seven left.
I thought the park was beautiful and a perfect place for a gathering. Thank you Steve and Shirley. Pat
