Morning Cup Of Coffee And Weather

Awesome rain did come on Saturday but wasn’t too bad. Great people good food

I figured it got a little damp. That area is special to me --- 2I3 --- RoughRiver State Park Airport. This, when I was flying, was one of my favorit destinations. Leave Indianapolis at 10:30 with cold winter tempeatures...fly for about an hour and land there....15 - 20 degrees warmer, and a really nice inn to grab lunch.

No it was built by the Funkies in the 1880’s. Its the first stick built home in the county.

Funkies? I shouldn't mock but for some reason I just saw and old general mills cereal box from the 1970s :D -- I loved them as a kid. Not to mention "King Vitamin" which was kind of like a "healthy" cap'n crunch. It was not as sugary as I remember, and verified by wikipdia -- discontinued in 2019. I'm feeling a little nostalgic now. Maybe I need a box of Count Chocula or Frankenberry or better booberry.

We have not yet had a hard freeze, but we've had temperatures below 36 -- October 17'th (today) is the average and normal schedule. We're right on track!

My new Lectric XP4 came today. It’s out of the box and mostly assembled. I haven’t ridden it yet and it will be dark in a half hour so the maiden trip will have to wait.

Youre going to love it! Makes the whole camping experience better. If you're in a park that is a mile or two away from town you bike in and don't think twice about it. Or even the camp store. We bought ours in Florida when were staying at Silver Springs state park -- it was great! The spring was a mile or so from the campground, so we were able to visit there a few times, or turn left at the light and you were just a short trip from restaurant row. Walmart was just 2 more blocks...

We could have stayed down there for a week and never started the truck.

Fold it up and take it on trails in town --- off road, they aren't that rugged I wouldn't. Love mine - I just wish two things. 1] fat tires 2] luggage rack

I have a "Metro" folding bike that rides well overall, but its narrow 21-inch wheels make it feel really twitchy. Off-road excursions are extremely uncomfortable, and riding on county roads is more challenging than on a full-size bike. I live about three-quarters of a mile from a bike lane, on a narrow county road that was designed for just a few cars an hour. Thanks to a greedy town council that gave away our tax dollars to warehouses that sit mostly empty, it has become a main thoroughfare. If they ever fill up it will be a nightmare. Already, eighteen-wheeler trucks grunting down these narrow roads make it dangerous—let alone on two wheels.

I’m not sure it will ever leave the homestead. It’s perfect around here on our two-lane roads. The road I live on is s spur off the main road. So instead of getting 50 cars a day I only get a dozen and they are all neighbors. It’s very hilly and the pedal assist is frequent and I only put as much effort as I want. I’m retarded, I mean retired so I’m never in a hurry.

The wheels are 3 inch and perfect and for the gravel roads. Lectric makes a full off-road and it has 4 inch tires. I thought of getting it but it never seemed to go on sale so the price was a lot more. I instead spent the money on the long-range battery with a quick charge.

I want to get a few options like mirrors and maybe a carry box for the rack it came with.

I just went on a 12 mile trip. This is the highest farm in Wisconsin and is about three miles away.

"Highest farm" --- didn't know that was legal up there. Though I did see on wiki that your laws are a bit complicated

I was surprised how much the hill climbing helps. I took mine up a hill that I found difficult to even walk -- and it pulled me right up the side. I half way was expeting a dead battery or scored contacts. Honestly, I do not know how they get the amps needed to do some of the things they do...watts is work -- and its impressive what they do

For the most part Wisconsin doesn’t address the elevation of farms. So it’s neither legal or illegal. Either way it has no barring on me.

I ran the battery almost dead on my last loop around Timms Hill. I had to push it the last few feet up my driveway. Actually it has limp mode and it will power itself at 3 mph so its powered but not me. I was riding it in Turbo Mode which is fast and I was going up and down hills. I think I made ten loops at four plus miles a loop. Far short of the 85 miles it will do on level ground in Eco Mode.

Do you guys ever find the 20" wheels causing a stiffer ride even on shorter distances? My old 20" folding bike (non ebike) was really a stiff ride even around the neighborhood and with the lighter weight of a non ebike. It wasn't a lot of fun to ride.

I'd like to replace my current full size ebike just for convenience of travel (and it's a bit on the large size for me although I make it work.) but I'm leery of going down to 20" wheels again. I want a soft ride. I'm getting too old for rattling my teeth when I ride.

The fatter tires on our XP2s help with a smoother ride. We also bought the optional seats with more cushion and the seat post with a suspension within. All the above give us a good ride experience. In the past, we had non e-bikes with 20 inch tires and the ride was much rougher than what we have now.

For sure a suspension seat post is mandatory. I have that on my full size ebike now which also has a suspension fork.

Tire width is a good point. I'll have to look into my old one and what the new bikes are now offering.

I sprung for the cushion seat with a spring added to the shank
Glad to hear they have taken care of that issue, even though it's something that was fairly easily adapted to....well for most people anyway.
I discovered I can just pedal and get an electric boost. I was letting the motor do the work with some assistance from me.

I’ve also discovered TURBO mode. The combination gives me the same workout as riding a bike. The big difference is I cover three times the distance.
