Happy Memorial Day.....

...from Green Valley Lake campground, San Bernardino Mountains, Southern California. Just 90 miles from Orange County at 7000 feet. Beautiful campground just outside of the tiny "town" of Green Valley Lake, CA. Town consists of a main street with Fire Dept, General store, malt shop, restaurant and bar. ON one side of Main Street is a beautiful, small lake with swimming beach, area for dog swimming, boat rental and trout fishing for $14 plus a CA fishing license. The campground is just outside of town in the National Forest. Sites are small paved driveways with a fire ring and picnic table. Only a few sites work well if you want to set up a canopy behind the trailer. 18 & 19 are my favorites. Clean bathrooms, nice hosts, dog friendly and unlimited hiking on the many fire roads that cut through the forest.

 

Tropical Storm Alberto kept us home this weekend in the Southeast.

 

My wife grew up around Lake Arrowhead.

 

Right up the road from GVL! I really like the campground and the little town is charming though businesses struggle to make it. It was hit pretty hard by the fires some years back.
