What do you store in the 560 under-mattress boxes?

Hi! New members here. So far we've done two mini-camps (just weekends) in our new 560! We're trying to work out how we want to organize our storage. There's a lot of space under the mattress but it's not terribly accessible. I'm wondering what items you all have found useful to store under there. I looked and no one has discussed this for a number of years, so thought I'd see if how people answer now.

Thanks!

Ann

It’s a work in progress! 3rd summer and I am still adjusting. We tend to keep stock up items like extra paper towels, tp, extra doggie towels, dog food, wipes etc. 1st summer and our longer trip to CA I also kept can goods but found we never used them.

With the spare tire I have a small peanut butter jar with grease and packed bearings fit perfectly within the hub.

Extra paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates, backpacks. Not a lot of any of it since it’s not real accessible. Spare set of wheel bearings just in case we have a problem.

One has the spare (I should put the spare bearing with it!)
Another a collapsible toilet & supplies we bought for boondocking during COVID lockdown, never been used.
Another has propane stuff, a whip for the gas outlet, 4 backup 1Lb. bottles, spare roll of paper towels, and a large hip pack and water bottle, also backup.
The last has bits and bobs of water hose, 2 liter water bag, collapsible bucket.

Basically, we never use any of it… but we might!

Like Seth I have a portable potty I've never used. Additionally a solar panel and solar cables I've never used. I do have a heavy duty power cord for shore power. That, has been used a few times. Also have an unused spare tire in another bin.

Mostly it's for things I don't expect to use much.

Im in a 550. One bin has the spare tire (check the tire pressure of that spare at the beginning of the season). The other bin had one of those square toilets but I didn't like it so i never used it. This year i put the side tent in there and the poles for that tent are under the edge of the mattress on that side.

Spare tire of course, In another bay, I carry a few tarps and hoses to allow me to fill the tank. I have come to really like the hoses that shrink - they come under several brand names. (Check your brand to make sure it is 'drinking water safe' if you drink the water - that said, as a kid I drank out of the hose more often than I did the sink.) I use a camco tank filler with shut off valve to ''pre load' the hose .

I also carry a first aid kit and a couple super small camping chairs - more like stools - when I'm an idiot and forget to throw my bigger chairs unto the van, and a few tools that I hope I never need.

In the storage behind the sofa, we carry our wardsrobe - change of sheets, jeans/shorts, etc.

The storage to either side of the AC -- the top, I put shoe bags -- 2 to be exact. One packed with T-Shirts, and shorts using the "roll" method of packing. The other carries socks and underwear. My shavig kit fits in there too, as well as a supply of 'dude-wipes' The lower is my "upper dresser draw" with things I need access too faster. Camp Knife, eyeglass cleaner, lip balm, brochures, bug spray etc.

Oh -- great thing to carry, is (compliments dude-wipes) is a can of dry shampoo. With a GI shower I can go a little longer without a full shower -- but my hair always feels dirty -- the dry shampoo takes away all the ick in just a few moments...really fantastic stuff.

Thats my side -- my wife has a completely different system for her stuff.
