Misc Shore water hookup

Thought I'd get the quick connect to hook up shore water to the camper but couldn't get the male end of the qr to seat properly. Spoke to Cary and was told it sometimes takes alot to push it on. I went and tried again. No luck.
Looking into the female section on the camper I noticed a metal plug that seemed to be keeping it from inserting. I took a big screwdriver and tried moving the plug , after a few tries a burst of water squirted out. So... make sure your pump is off and the faucet is open before you try.

So if you had the pump on and the faucet open was this creating pressure that kept that plug in place and the quick connect from attaching?

Pump was off but there was still pressure pushing the plug out ( sealing the connection) I got rained out before I could try it with the faucet open) must be some type of check valve otherwise the water would just flow out when the pressure built up. I know the tank isn't pressurized . The pump is direct but when youre hooked up to shore water youre using their water pressure . I'll release the pressure tomorrow and see how it goes. I ll post up when I know

Update
Once again Cary knows his sh..
stuff
Not sure why there was a bit of pressure . Manual says you can have shore water and use the pump but you cannot fill the tank with the qr connection.
I ended up using a rubber mallot to tap the male qr into place once it was done once I could easily do it by hand. I've never used the connection but bought the camper used.
Anyway if youre having trouble what worked for me was I took a large screwdriver, pushed in the plug until water/ pressure came out. Then I took a rubber ballot to tap the qr in. Problem solved.
