Just to let you know my wife Anna Just tightened all the door hindge screws every one of them was loose from a 1/4 of a turn to one full turn.Steve :)
 
One thing to note. I don't recommend just tightening door hinge screws if you find them loose. I would recommend taking each out and regluing the screws in the holes as they were originally done.

Cary, what type of glue do you recommend using? I just checked mine and found pretty much the same thing Steve did - most were slightly loose (more so on the door side of the hinge and the lower screws were 'looser'). I actually just tightened them up, but that was before I read your post...
 
At least a silicone adhesive. For ones that have really loosened used a urethane glue like gorilla glue.

Your doors are not light and going down the road they bound up an down... the more you travel the more they loosen... If you read my post on the door hinges you will see what I am talking about. I think the only real solution will be expanding the door hinge and adding bolts to top and bottom with lock nuts...otherwise you will be gluing every year depending on how many miles you travel. I have been to Montana twice from Fullerton, CA.

Normal traveling & use may, over time, cause the screws to loosen. Our 10 year old tear with over 80,000 miles (including an Alaska trip) on it has only needed them done once.

The problem Hilditch experienced was different. Somebody spaced out at the hinge factory and countersunk the holes too deeply, so the screws fell through the hinge entirely and the door fell off. As far as I know, this was an isolated incident. The screws loosening over time sounds like more of a wear and tear issue.
 
hmmmm maybe its the wood then... will hope the toothpicks and new glue hold better. Will let you all know in a year....
