Alcan Cover Replace Alcan Cover With Bedliner Paint?

I wonder what it would look like to replace the Alcan cover with some type of truck bed-liner paint. The surface underneath the Alcan cover is pretty ugly. Think it would protect it from dings and dents? Just thinking............
 
Cary also told us never to peek under the cover! We may have also found another benefit of the Alcan cover- when comparing notes with one of our Camp-Inn 550 owner/friends, we discovered that the Alcan cover just MIGHT provide some insulation to the storage cabinet at the head of the bed. Our friends DON’T have the cover, and mentioned that under certain conditions the inside of the cabinet collects condensation allowing it’s contents to get damp. Can’t say we have ever experienced that with our 550, and we DO have the cover. Just an observation, so take it for what it’s worth! Jamie

I was wondering about that.
 
I always release the alcan side cover when washing and wash and dry and leave loose until next outting allowing it to dry. Same with front but every 3 or 4 times I wash it so still looks good and dry when stored. In winter months leave them loose, also bungee aren't always stretched. The front of our trailer took a pretty good road debris strike last summer. The front cover absorbed the hit and no damage to front. Afraid it.it were a bed lining material would have left a.noticeable dent.
 
I have explored this as an option. I have been told that neither Line X or Rhino Linings will not adhere to aluminum. I continue to research it though because I would like to have both the liner and the alcan cover on there.
 
I have seen the truck bed liner applied as a replacement for the Alcan. It works very well. It bonds great to aluminum with the proper surface prep as you would with any painting or coating applied to aluminum (that is a caution that needs to be heeded). One owner from MI applied this product to the front of his 560 for a trip to Alaska several years ago and it looks great. I was able to inspect this trailer last fall as he passed through and stopped for some service. It has held up great and still looks like it was just applied.

Has anyone painted the entire trailer? I think it would be cool to have the trailer the same color as the tv.

We had RhinoLining applied shortly after getting our 2019 Teardrop. They did have to prepare the aluminum so the RhinoLining would adhere. We love the way it looks and works.

I would think paint would absorb more heat, that the aluminum reflects more. This is a consideration in warmer climes like ours. I would never paint it, I love the aluminum skin.
 
I live in Florida and I am concerned about mold growing under the cover. Thank you for this option of bed liner paint. The picture above looks sharp!! Color me "happy"....
