Question on power cord. We are picking up our 560 late May, and getting ready for the trip home. Asked Carey and he suggested a 25 foot 15amp cord, and a 50 foot 15amp cord to cover most situations with 75 feet total possible. I went to ACE Hardware and purchased both, but after getting home I wish I could plug in the Female End into the trailer to make sure it fits.
This brand (Monster) has a locking button on top of the Female End PLUS a 1/4" TAB to protect the button.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Without the trailer (or one nearby), I'am guessing the Shorepower Inlet is a Marinco 15 amp recessed inlet (or similar). The Technial Specs on the Marinco shows a 1.56" inside diameter and the female plug is exactly 1.56" at its widest point. However even if the Stars (and prongs) align, I see no way to reach in there to push the button to engage / disengage the locking mechanism.
Always thought extension cords were all the same.

Yes, that does sounds like the locking feature might not just work with the Marinco shore power connector on your trailer.

Sometimes we run into a power cord that had a "thumb push" on it to aid in plugging in the cord. Those hit the shore power inlet also but are easily remedied with a pocket knife.

Thanks Cary,
Decided to keep these Locking Cords & put them to use in the yard with a leaf blower, cause you can drag & pull them without them comming apart. Back to ACE for two more "normal" cords.

I'm no expert, but if'n one is gonna do any modifications to a power cord, one might want to make sure it's unplugged.

There's "Shocking" idea.. heheh, I was going to suggest just use the other one, cord.. until it's noted they're both the same... Well, I tried right???

That plug under the bumper is a tough one. Each time I figured, oh, I can just bend over a little and plug it in... sigh, always end up having to kneel..
I'll get it right occasionally, just enough times to think I can do it all the time... sigh, which isn't the case.. especially in mud...

I learned you can never be too literal and careful. I was working with a sales rep in the field and we had obtained an elusive appointment with his biggest potential customer. We had to cancel the meeting so I could run him to the hospital. He had noticed a wrinkle in his shirt and so he touched it up with an iron. Whilst he was wearing said shirt.

He did not make salesman of the year.

Sometimes, not having the bumper is a plus! ;)

I did a little research on this and ended up getting a Yellow Jacket 10/3 SJTW-A 50 foot cord. It is a perfect fit in the male external plug on trailer. What I really like is that the female end on the cord has a light in it so you know you have power from the source. Worked great, but pricey at $90.

Thank you for your detailed reply. Just so happens I had just purchased a Yellowjacket 12/3 25ft power cord @$45 with same lighted female plug. Until your post, I was still uncertain it would fit. It is a challenge making these decisions without the benefit of having the trailer yet, knowing it will be needed during the trip home.

A cord with lighted end is kinda nice to know the other end is plugged in to a live outlet.

And besides it makes a nice low night light to avoid obstacles when getting a late night snack. It also
works when you don't need the porch light, just a bit of light for the walk to the Camp-Inn's bathroom ;)
