Northern Breeze 12 x 12 or 10 x 10

Neither have I. It's been thru some serious storms too and no leaks. But if its super windy or storming, you better put on guy lines and lots of stakes. It only comes with 3 guy lines, but nylon cord works great.
 
Yes, put the clips on before erecting it. We also found that unzipping the corners makes it easier to erect and we don't stake anything till we walk it to the perfect position then zip the corners, square it up and stake. We also just stuff in the sack. The first time we tried to be so careful folding, rolling, etc. that works but a bother - stuffing works fine.
 
Anybody used their Northern Breeze in the heat to keep out the skeeters and flying visitors? Looked like there are some issues with vening. We are looking at the tail gator for quick trips and shade, but also eventually want a good 3 season screen house...
 
Don't have the Northern Breeze, but the C100 10x10 by QuickShade has great screen walls or full side walls that we used for bugs and bad weather.
 
The Northern Breeze works great keeping bugs out, but....it does get warm in there if sun is hitting it. If it's really sunny I lay a space blanket on roof, shiny side up. It helps keep it cool but is sorta a hassle.
 
Thanks guys great feed back on this product its always good to get the thought of actual users. It would be good to get the same kind of feedback on the C-I side tent.
 
We used our northern breeze in 90 degree weather in full sun in a buggy area. As far as temperature goes we decided we needed a good fan - the screens are wide open on 4 sides but we think a fan will keep the hot air moving out of the top area as there is no opening at the top. We bought a fan this winter so will see how it works. The mosquitos did not get in but the flys liked the hot top point. We think the fan will help this too - we will see.

Matt - the space blanket is an interesting idea.
 
On a windy day, I tied a bungy around one leg to a tree and it kept the canopy down. During the winter I tried weighting it with snow, and it stayed down for two days, but blew over on the third. It was a very strong gust though...
 
I found these Quik Shade branded weights at the local Home Depot for $30. We'll be trying them out next week on a trip to the Wisconsin Dells area. They're supposed to fit most manufacturers legs. I'll be sure to put my thoughts here afterwards.

Side tents are what I use on short trips or in the winter. I love everything about them, except the poles rust like crazy, but some steel wool and lithium grease help. Also, the floor frame (found on the forum), and a tarp under it help a bunch.
 
The side tent is convienient. It is not water tight. I have found the Plastic covered hooks mar the finish.(not real bad)
If it is not raining, I use it less and less as time goes by.
I usually camp while hunting and privacy is not an issue. Up before light and back in camp after dark. Often I camp remote and then privacy is not a problem.
The side tent is like a vestibule to a large camping tent. It is there to store stuff that needs some protection but does not need to be inside.
When I am off line, I use it to house my Buddy heater. With the door open and setting the heater on an action packer, I have gotten thru some pretty cold nights in ultra comfort.
Be careful if you try to purge the air from the propane line from the on board tank. Propane sinks. When I finally smelled the gas and then reconnected the line.....Lets just say I set leaves on fire on the floor of the side tent. That belongs in the confessional section.
The new poles are an improvement. You may find the PVC frames mentioned for the floor to be an inexpensive improvements.

Sunday I was able to take down the Northern Breeze all by myself!
Once the first pole is gone, the tent collapses on the ground.
Foled each pole, squared the awning. Unzipped sides and folded onto roof. Folded into thirds, and rolled.

Worked very well.

I was so happy and proud that I could actually put away by myself.

Now to tackle putting up by myself!
 
Jean- we pretty much did it the same way- up- even with two was hard-in fact it didn't happen due to a huge wind- maybe next time!
