We stayed here in May/June 2011 for a week. It's close to Acadia NP. In late May/early June, this campground is empty which made it nice. They spread campers out so we had lots of privacy. The sites are large and we had a site with a view of the water. If you have a canoe/kayak, you can access the water from the campground. The bath house is fantastic.

Also, once you cross the causeway onto MDI, there is a KOA right at the first traffic light, and if you go a little farther towards Bar Harbor on Rte 3 there are the Narrows Campground and Hadley's Point. We've stayed at the Narrows and had a beautiful site right on Frenchman's Bay. I have to say it was a bit pricey though.
