NAME THAT DROP

A little background first. The 560 will be used primarily by me (genealogy travels and just general wanderings) and my dog's name is Moa, a 12 year old Sheppard mix.

The name for the 560 (picked up on August 5th) is named "Chalet Moa". My wife (who isn't as keen on the trailer as I am) quickly replied "you mean aka 'The Dog House'."

She isn't the first one to refer to the TD as the dog house. We were at a gas station in Carthage, Mo.(of Precious Moments fame)and a fellow remarked to Jim, "You must be in trouble a lot to have to drag your dog house along with you."

Gotta love those down-home folks.

Camp on,

Sue and Dog-House Jim

LOL, your handle reminds me of a sailboat on our old dock in California called "Passing Wind" I bet "Moe" gets blamed a lot for those wee hour wake ups! I mean the teardrop sleeping cabin is a tiny space, fills up quick with no where to hide, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, know what I mean eh?

Our 560 is named Serenity - Firefly Class. As already mentioned in a previous post - Firefly was a partial season Fox program by Joss Weadon. In which Fox decided, in their infinite wisdom to kill it out of the gate by re-ordering the episodes to their liking, rather than to let the story play out as Joss intended. However, more than a decade since its cancellation, fans of the show would welcome it back on the air at any time.

I've seen some nicknames posted somewhere, but I'd like to get them "all in one place" if that's ok with Evan. (Evan if this is in the wrong place, please forgive me and move it if you will.)

I may have said this before but we've toyed with different names but laying in bed last night it finally came to me: We live in a large 5th wheel and our last name starts with Mc so it'll be(Big Mc), and the Raindrop's gonna be called (MiniMc)...don't think I can get it on a vanity plate but will try again...maybe...I can buy a solar panel for their prices! Think we'll call her "Minnie" for short - since it is!

What's your handle?
named it LiL for LivInnLarge...back in 2016

I was set to order a new 550, when a used one came up on the forum. I've been thinking about a name for some time, and decided mine will be Hamlin, a German name that means "loves the little home".

Ours is Robin Nest, our personalized plates will be RBN NEST. We are the Robinett's, so a play on words, along with Empty Nest, Leaving' the Nest, This is our Nest, etc. We didn't get personalized plates the 1st time around as the helpful person at the DMV suggested we wait until September, since we will renew then, and it is $50/year or any part of a year. So believe it or not, the BMV employee saved us $50. I just hope it is still available come September.

Of course, I have talked about this name with my husband since December or January when we first were placing our order. We had our BIG REVEAL last week with his family, when I mentioned what our plates would be, his sister immediately said " oh yeah, that was the name of our boat when we were kids", my husband never mentioned it, he had forgotten! So I guess we will be carrying on a long forgotten tradition.

Venezia Queen of the Adriatic "Venezia" for short. Original owner was in Venice FL and I love the play on Priscilla Queen of the Desert. I love traveling in Italy and Venice was my first touchdown. Many colorful adventures ahead.

Need I say more!

Ours is the Growler Prowler - for the 1/2 gallon take-away beer jugs that seem to dominate our travels.

We saw these vacation home signs in the UP and thought they were pretty hilarious. For the taco/tequila fans out there: Rancho Relaxo. If you're more of a wine/brie lover: Chateau Relaxau.

In our case it would have to be Rancho Chateau Relaxau.

We just picked up our new 560 Ultra in June, and have since hauled her around the western US getting to know her. We've seen several good names we liked, but wanted one of our own that made sense for us.

We nicked named ours the little "Tear Dragger" in likeness to our little Cessna 170, which is a "tail dragger" by aircraft standards. It just seemed to make sense. It's "Tear" and we "drag it around behind us everywhere! :-)

The Cessna 170 is one of my favorite airplanes to fly. The “B” Model is my favorite.

My response from another post

After owning our 560 Ultra for 2 years and taking it on many great trips, we finally named her thanks to my 3 year old daughter who this year started affectionately calling it our "Cramper." Not sure if she was intentional or not. But probably intentional since all of my family plus my inlaws own large trailers/RVs that dwarf our tincan during family camping outings. We once lost it behind just the slide out on my father's trailer.

Last year I was referring to it as our metal tent to friends and family, but I can't argue with a good play on words. With 2 adults, a 3 year old, a 7 month old, and a 100 lb goldendoodle, I have to agree that she is correct. It is definitely our Cramper. Time to get a customized license plate.
