Mr Ed is 560 Dreaming

Mr Ed

Hello All,

Great Forum, Great People, Great Posts
My name is Carl and the wife and I have been looking at the 560 for years now!! We have looked at smaller campers Tab Aliner etc but all have 6 foot beds. I am 6'3" and even though my wife is short she does not like when sleep at an angle at take up the whole bed!

Instead of being that awful dreaded guest or spider I thought I would sign up as I have seen areas that I could post and share our experiences.

I started tent camping with my family in the mid 60's to early 70's. The wife and I have been tent camping since the 80's and have traveled from the Pacific to the Atlantic, Canada to Florida. I have traveled to about 44 of lower 48 states missing Louisiana, Mississippi ?? Tennesee

The Rockies from the San Juan Mtns to Glacier Nat Park is one of our favorite areas. (small area I know) The Black Hills SD - Northern WI & MN along Lake Superior - Delaware River Gap - Arcadia Maine - mmmm I could go on and on there is so much to see in the USA!! Hence the reason at looking at the 560... Setting up a tent is getting old... (not us ) and would also like to take that Alaska trip some day.

Almost forgot... Why did I sign up as Mr Ed? Reading your posts on all the lookie lous and is that a Horse Trailer? I thought Mr. Ed was appropriate. When we finally get that 560 and someone outside says is that a horse trailer? I could then jump out trotting and yelling WiiiiLLLLBBBBUUUrrrrr! lol

I hope I can contribute to your community here..

Welcome to this growing family of camping enthusiasts. This is a great forum for learning and sharing. Look forward to reading your posts.

Hoping to be a CI 550 owner in the very near future. Alaska is also on our list.
Did the two week cruise in 2008; toured the interior, then the inside passage. Absolutely wonderful! Want to go back on our own in a teardrop.

Welcome, Mr. Ed! (I used to LOVE that show)

It sounds like you have some great knowledge of cool places to go.

I too am dreaming of an Alaska trip. There was some talk a couple of months ago on another thread of organizing a Camp Inn Alaska adventure sometime next summer. So glad you joined the forum, but I don't imagine anyone here dreads guests on the forum. We all were at some point before we jumped in and registered.

Look forward to seeing you around!

Welcome to the forum Carl! Since you're right in CampInn's back yard, you should try to make it to the annual CampInn CampOutt the last weekend of this month at Castle Rock County Park in Juneau County. If you haven't already seen a 560 or talked to the folks at CampInn, it would be a great opportunity to do both.

Carl,

Ken beat me the punch. Indeed, if you can come visit us at the annual Camp-Outt the 28-30th would be a great way to get introduced.

Where in central WI are you? Can't imagine you are very far away.

Cary

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Love your humor brother. Dave

We just moved from the Appleton Area to Just Nordth of Wausau yadda ya know der hey (I've heard North of 29 you need speak in Nordic dialect)

I've spyed your plant on a Saturday about 4-5 months ago...closed.. (Did you notice any foot prints / doggy prints on the freshly poured concrete addition slab?)
To date that is the closest I've come to seeing a Camp Inn.

I was hoping months ago we would have been able sign up for the CICO weekend but as usual other plans are stepping in the way.
I'm sure there will be many outings in the future, my wife hasn't been to the Portland Seatle area yet my last trip there was in 1972! I've noticed the NW seems to be the hot spot.

Is anyone going to the CICO bringing a Norski pie from Osseo WI?

Thanks Everyone
Carl

Carl,

Oh ya, I am soooo very familiar with the Nort of 29 accent, ya know. I get accused of having one myself sometimes, except I am not from there?

I was just up your way Saturday, flew up to Ringle.

Cary

Grew up in Milwaukee, 15 years in Minneapolis, over to the Appleton area and now in Wausau area. Had a choice back to the Milwaukee area or Wausau? Wisconsin river area is so much nicer!!

Have you ever camped at the Dells of the Eau Clare just north and a tad east of Ringle? Marathon County park... very pretty area visited but did not camp there..

Welcome to the forum Carl!

The NW does seem to be hot. Lots of folks moving in and even more visiting. Can't possibily because of Portlandia or Grimm, or the weather 9 months a year, but we have some pretty nice scenery and people. Oh and beer, wine and coffee...if you like the stuff! Pretty beaches and great food. Wait a minute...now get it! If you need any pointers for a future trip out this direction, lots of us can help you out! Just say the word!

Boy, we just flew in from Iceland last night (North of 66) and that accent read a little too easy! I might be in trouble (or living in the wrong place!). We are only at North of 45 out here. ;).

Off to do battle with this jet-lag! Ugh...one thing I never have to worry about with camping!

If you want to experience Oregon you can start in Portland and you are only an hour from one of the most scenic areas in the country the Columbia River Gorge. One hour to Mt Hood for year round skiing, hiking, etc. One hour to the coast. Two hours to central Oregon and Mt Bachelor.

Nuff said. Dave
