It’s still dry enough to drift. The wind changed direction and the drifts up to the eaves on the garage are now much lower. In another hour and two more cups of coffee I’ll venture out to dig myself out. Most likely I’ll have to snowshoe the few hundred yards up to the tractor to do the real shoveling.

Nice work --- this reminds me of growing up as a kid :) Dad would wake up and dig a path from the house to the garage. The 24 inch walls were monstrous to a 10 year old! Got to say though @Van_and_Terri has it right - you don't have to shovel sunshine!

I’m still snowed-in. My tractor can’t plow deep snow and I have to use the front loader to bucket it clear. I did park the van near the road and will snowshoe down to it later today. By Friday the temperature will be in the 50’s.

Hopefully you're fully stocked on bullets, bandages, beer, and beans --- that is the correct combination right?

I'm not sure 50's that soon will be good. A slow release of that much water might be a better. Thats 2 1/2 inches of rain equivelent...if we got that much in a short time, my septic system will be complaining....

This area doesn’t get much flooding. At least not like Western Washington and the Cascades.

We get it a couple times a year --- its not flooding as much as it is just too much all at once. The geniuses who build this subdivision drained a swamp. So under ground there is a network of french drains that keep the water at bay. It seems to work pretty well, but when we get a day long rain - the big thunderstorm stuff, not 'gentle spring' style we have probelms. So does eveyrone else here. Theres talk of putting in city water and sewer out here. I have mixed feelings about it. The nice part is, they intend to keep in voluntary rather than voluntold. I used to work for the coop that will do the work. patiently waiting...
