I had a foot of hard, dense crusted snow on the ground and this morning awoke to just more than seven inches of new snow. Gotta love these Wisconsin springs!

Spammers are at it again. Got that one before anyone seems to have noticed :) At least it was temu discount codes not Russian porn or something like that.

Looks like they have found a block of IP's that aren't tainted as well. Perhaps a new company has spun up? The forum software does a pretty good job of letting moderators know that applicants are likely troublemakers but I've seen a half dozen that look safe...but as easy as it is to approve them, its even easier to clean it up.
 
They were visible here in Chicago too, but we only saw a tinge of red, being surrounded by city lights. First time for us, but it BARELY counts. I heard about them too late to get out to the boonies...
 
I've yet to see them -- even with a camera. My camera is an iPhone SE, which can't see that color range. Maybe someday I'll open my wallet a little farther. I hate to spend that much on something I really don't use that much. I take a ton of photos, but nothing more than before-and-after pictures, and the random family photo.

Heck, I just saw my first meteor shower at the CICO this past September. Being a city kid, we never had night skies, and I'm usually in bed by the time the skies are dark enough to see it --- but some troublemaker and I set up until 1am or so talking.

I HAVE seen the 'Milky Way' before -- in its full color splendor with purple and reds...with a naked eye. That was up at Mackinaw city area -- staying at one of the very nice private campgrounds up there. This gets me thinking about time exposure and the ol' SLR and film. May need to try it with the DSLR I have....But I would want to do that from someplace with a darker sky than I have here.

Sweeney when you finally commit to Rte66 trip I have a couple Dark Sky spots for ya, out in Borrego or by 29 Stumps...guessing @Randy or @JohnC might as well...
No camera needed...

Surprising - my house is in a darker sky region than I thought it would be. We are Class 5 - or suburban. However, there are a few places I'm going to have to explore, the darkest areas, where I would expect, inside the Hoosier National Forest, which is full of trees. This will help when Aurora hunting in the future....
 
Today, it truly feels like winter! I saw a few flurries in the air this morning at dawn, and its 38 degrees -- but the 25mph winds are what is really making it feel unbearable. That combination makes it feel like 15 degrees.

At least the leaves will all be down and I may get a chance to clean my gutters one last time before the snow flies. I had hoped to get 1 more night in this year - I envy you people in warmer climates! We'll be consistently in the 20s, going well into the teens until January. Looking for April!

Yesterday, I got a part in for a customer and gave him the option to do the work yesterday or today—I'm thrilled he chose yesterday. Most of what I needed to do was inside, but there was about 40 minutes of work that needed to be done outside - that would have been miserable.
