Memorbable Thanksgiving meal

Cooked a nice meal for Thanksgiving supper: prime rib roast, roasted vegetables of cabbage, red potatos, carrots, and celery, cooked cranberries, artisian bread, and pumpkin pie.

MMMM good meal with no Turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing.

Dessert naturally pumpkin pie, served with Cool Whip. Needless to say after a few bites of pie something about the flavor wasn't right. Chewed a few more, oh, this is awful, dull.

Reviewed recipee card, darn, forgot to add sugar. Well, that is one recycled pie!

What have been your interesting meal moments?

I made sourdough dinner rolls, I froze the dough the Tues, to be used on Thurs, I was all right, the dough of course thawed, and I put the rolls in my 16" DO(we were at a camp driveway in ALA.) Basted them with melted butter and baked. They apparently were still very cool, because they took forever to bake. I ended up piling on extra coals. After a while, I removed lid and noticed they were swimming in bubbling butter. They didn't rise as much as I like and of course were extremely buttery LOL Flavor was great.

Jean,
I did a similar thing when in my youth. I was cooking a pumpkin pie as well. 1/4 tsp of nutmeg is not 1/4 cup of nutmeg. I remember wondering why I needed the full can. The house filled with the pungent odor of nutmeg. That pie too was recycled.

When I was a teen, I forgot to put shortening in molasses cookies. Only thing they were good for was paper weights.
