Mattress stand

Well, it seems I can't leave Mick home alone for an afternoon without him turning into 'action man'. I mentioned it would be nice to have something to hold the mattress up while I was digging around in the storage bins. I use two of them for things that I don't need super often, but might need (extra towels, pantry items, etc). I came home to this:

It wasn't what I had in mind for the design, but he had all of these parts laying around the garage and welded them up, so we will test it out this trip! The nice thing about this design is that we will be able to prop the mattress up on occasion to dry out any condensation that may accumulate. I am just hoping I am not the "Princess and the Copper Pipe" and feel it all night. I think the placement should be ok though.

Boy am I glad it wasn't another power converter or battery pack or something with electrics though! I think I am more than covered!

What a good idea. I don't think you will feel the pipes. Don't you have a memory foam topper? You will have to give us a demonstration at the gathering.

The pipes are on 2 hinges around where your knees would be. You pull the mattress up and insert the small legs into the holes, and you are ready for digging. We stow the small legs next to the bars so they are handy.

Joan, I do have the memory foam topper. I noticed it a bit at my head, but I didn't have the topper or a pillow at the time, and think that will take care of it. Mick made it look really easy to lift, so hopefully my "slightly" less strong (ok, a lot less strong) muscles will be able to handle it. I sure like the idea and I am about to give it a two week run for its money! So happy to be getting out! Yeah!

Looks like a good design for airing out the mattress when not in use, and for getting to items in the storage bin when you are out vacationing!!

Sarah,

I'm sure it's there but I don't see the hydraulic switch for the auto-lift. Can you ask Mick to post details on this? :)

I will get him right on that. He had to install 6 extra batteries for it and it only works when we are plugged in! The trailer now weighs about 7000lbs, but it sure helps with my wimpy arms! :)
