Mattress, poles and battery

i too am size 13, so is my "little" brother. My feet dont stand straight up while sleeping and it doesnt bother me at all. Also, i too added a memory foam topper. However, my brother for some reason is bothered by the low ceiling height at your feet, his feet are straight up! EASY solution, lay sofa bottom flat and put your pillow all the way up at sofa back. Being over 6'3" tall, this will bring your feet outta the danger zone, and also your knees wont bonk the cabinet bottom if you bend your legs. If you sleep by yourself, sleep diagonal!

I think if you want to laze outside... use the screen doors. It's close enough to 'being outside' that I don't think you would go through all the trouble of tearing the bed apart to actually do it.

that's probably true

"sofa bottom"?

It just dawned on me that some of you folks might be in a 560, not a 550. I'm buying the 550

I do agree that my feet don't stick "straight up" when I am on my back. But my toes DO hit the underside of the cabinet (on the 550) when I am on my back.

Maybe you can buy your memory foam in 1/2" increments. Then you can cut each layer shorter so that your feet slope down to no foam at all. If that worked then you could add as much memory foam as you needed to be comfy and still have room for toes.

that's sort of the approach we are considering. Stock mattress, with a 1.5-inch foam topper that is full depth at the head location but 0-inches by the time it gets to the ankles. Something like that.

I'd love to hear from the folks who used the REI airpad with memory foam on top, but they don't seem to be active on the forum.

Thanks very much for offering your advice! Much appreciated.

We've replaced our Camp-Inn stock mattress with a futon mattress from IKEA. It folds, so it's fairly easy to move when you want to put on the sheets. It's at least four inches, perhaps five.We also added a memory foam topper. I believe it's about 1 inch. Got it at Overstock.com. (Great place to get stuff!)With all of that, we've never had a problem with foot space. My feet are women's 10 and Bob's are a men's 10. Lots of foot space. One of the things we like about the memory foam we got is that it has air holes all over it. About every two inches there is a hole about 3/8" in size. That lets the foam breathe. You're never too warm.

A new feature for us this season is a heated mattress pad. Haven't used it yet, but we'll be out in a couple of weeks, and the nights will still be chilly. We chose this because it has dual controls...makes for two very happy sleepers. Anybody use one with the memory foam topper?? I'd love to hear from anyone who has used one.

Happy Easter!
