Land Between the Lakes

Man we didn't want to leave this place! We stayed at Energy Campground which appeared to be fairly smaller among the four main sites—but that's only based on website map comparisons. We never even saw the other campgrounds LBL is so huge. We stayed at site A6, but by sharing this site, if we come back and there's a CI in it, you owe us part of your sunset view Easily a 270 degree view over the lake on the point of this campground. All new bathroom and shower facilities and great swim areas on the lake. When we come back it will easily be for a week here alone.

You all were in our neck of the woods, we live just west of LBL across KY Lake. The big campgrounds have more amenities but there are numerous smaller ones that are great too. If you get the back country permit($25-30 per year) you can camp about anywhere you want to. We have camped in LBL probably 10 times this year. At least 25 lake access area campgrounds with a boat ramp and a few camp sites w/pit toilets but no additional fee. Two week limit, then just move to another one. We have found some good sites where some of the gravel roads dead end at the water.These were probably old home sites before TVA ran the people out in the 1960's. When you are coming back this way let us know.

I saw yall on the map when we were traveling and was curious to reach out to yall. I am so envious of how close you are to this place. Leaving straight from our house would be about a 10 hour trip which isn't terrible. It's just finding the leave from work so we can enjoy a few days once we're there! We'll definitely let you know when we return. We read about the back country permit and it sounds awesome!
