I now own a 550 Ultra.

Hi all, I just returned from a road trip to Boulder, Co. where my dog Rusty and I bought Dan's 550 Ultra. It is a beautiful trailer, cute and small. It towed like a dream and we made it home to Richland, Wa. in two days. I haven't slept in it yet. Since it was cold, Rusty and I preferred to lay over in motels. I will be going out real soon to try it out. I was thinking that putting water in the tank may not be a good idea as temperatures go below freezing. I think Vodka would work as an antifreeze, but I am a non-drinker. I will just keep a water container in the car I guess. I will post pictures at some future date. I am glad to be in your community.

Oooooo, vodka in the water tank. I think I would prefer gin but oooo, will have to give that some thought.

Congratulations! If you plan on camping with electricity, search the forum and you will find some recommendations regarding small heaters to use in the cabin.

As Sarah suggested, you should plan on the NW Roundup which looks like it will be in August.

Enjoy

Joan

I do have one recommendation. When we tried to hook up the trailer, we found that the electric cord was too short to plug into the 4 runner. The new 4runners moved the socket too far over to the left of the hitch. So I had to go to an RV supply store and have a short extension cord made. I think Camp-inn needs to make the cord about a foot longer to accommodate the newer model cars.

Good for you on your purchase. These things are the best ever. You should have slept in it on the way home. Jim and I have camped in the snow w/o heater and were toasty warm all night. Sleeping bags and a micro fleece blanket and you're all set.

There are some nice little heaters you can buy. We have one, but haven't needed to use it yet. Take her out for a test camp and you'll soon find out what you need (and shopping is SO much fun).

And do consider going to the gatherings. These are a heck of a lot of fun and you get to see so many cool ideas for your trailer.

Looking forward to your postings on the maiden voyage.

Camp On,

Sue

PS:

Love the vodka idea...though as a good Scot, I prefer... well, Scotch!

As a fellow new owner. I plan on filling mine with Pinot Nior or another fine wine from the NW.

I did use mine on the way home from picking it up but I had the luxury of the heater. Two minutes and you are toast.

Have Fun.

Dave

Lou, (I'm guessing on the name here...)

I have a Toyota Rav4 and had the same issue with my cable.
Your suggestion is a good one, and has already been implemented in the new Camp-Inns.

Louboy,

Hey, when you get a chance send us your contact info via email and we will set you up in our customer data base. That way too I can move the pin for your trailer on our big map board.

Cary

Congrats Lou....
Looking forward to see you all on the road...

Margaritas... that way they're constantly shaken... Kewl...

I have a heater and a heat pad (when plugged in at the site). Planning Yosemite in Feb, but not sure I'll take "Le Droppe" on that one, could be -20f... that might be pushing it a little as Propane probably wouldn't work long enough to heat it up.. and keep it heated...

Have you been to a gathering of any kind? You're in for a treat -- it seems every teardrop gathering is a slice of americana. The unique free-thinking type are the norm.

We got our Ultra 560 last spring, and my only regret is we waited as long as we did....

This forum is great --- with people like Jenn & Bear you'll learn a lot of useful tips on how to stretch the limited resources of a teardrop to their fullest. But be sure to check out tnttt.com as well ashttp://tearjerkers.net -- good for different reasons.

Tearjerkers is where the national chapters report gatherings etc. tnttt is mostly builders...Good folk, but expect a little ribbing about spending more on your trailer than on your tow vehicle :) Its fair, I think we laugh at them because they are still struggling to figure out how to cool their units while fixing water leaks :)

Its good fun and great people. If you make it to Indiana(polis) be sure to look us up!!

Stephan and Shirley sent out a note in the 'gatherings' section a couple of weeks ago trying to get a sense of which dates folks wanted. The dates for this year haven't been set yet (from what I have seen...was gone for a week while in hospital, so I might have missed something). They were looking at August this year.

Hope everything is ok.

Frank,

I absolutely love that BBQ Grill... must be some award you could win for that... Frogman Grill award... something....

Now you need a beer mug with a snorkel attached. ;^)

Sorry didn't mean to interrupt the thread. Linda and I are also interested in the NW Roundup... I have heard August... any "Where" suggestions?
