Hello from Wine Country, Northern California

Goldie

Newbie
Hello Camp Inn Community! We just picked up a 2007 550, #195 and now know for ourselves why you are all hooked. I’ve named her “Goldie” because she’s vintage and well, not gold but definitely shiny! It’s been in the upper 90’s so our maiden voyage we headed for the Sonoma Coast, and a pit stop wine tasting. We’ve always been tent campers so I’m delighted to be sleeping off of the ground, but still get the joy of cooking outside. This forum has already given me useful info. We have a lot of trips planned, simply cannot wait.

Welcome!
Folks from California SHOULD have a teardrop named Goldie! That's perfect.

And here I would post a link to the Gatlin Brothers 'all the gold in california', but I dont have that skill set.

Wishing you wonderful, happy journeys in your new teardrop.

Beautiful camper - very well-maintained, to be sure!

I'd love to spend a few days in the Valley! The only thing I have heard is that is how amazing it is, though perhaps slightly over-touristed and a bit expensive. One of my favorite movies is "Bottle Shock" with the late Alan Rickman - the story of the 1973 tasting that put California on the wine map. If you haven't seen it, it's definitely worth checking out. Great soundtrack too.

Long long ago, We tent camped as well - I'm with you! The ground is not a place for old bones, at least that is what I said then....and I was 30-something! LOL

You may want to get a slightly lower drop for your hitch -- it looks like youare nose-high.

It’s definitely beautiful up here along the Russian River and vineyards. Highly recommend, and we know some incredible spots! The world class dining and wine tasting comes at a high price but at least you’d save on hotel stays! I need to re-watch that movie

I see what you mean, nose high-we only stayed one night for our first trip so the back of my truck was virtually empty. I wonder with a real load, bikes and gear it’s it might level her out a bit.

Me too -- Rickman was and is one of my favorite actors --- frankly watching him eat the fried chicken just about kills me every time :)

Welcome to the community :D

Hello! Debbie and I are newbies as well - so new we don't have ours yet - we pick it up next week - 550 Ultra #1149. We want to take a trip out to Sonoma and do exactly what you are doing - pit stop for wine! Do please post any good camping spots and such with pictures! We have always been tent campers and are looking forward to not setting up the tent or skimping on meal prep anymore! Safe travels!
