Hatch Leaks

Great Craig, thanks much, look forward to some pic so I make sure I'm on the same page so to speak.. heheh...

Thanks again for posting it..

Perhaps this could be one of the CampInn videos, created the next time a trailer needs fixing??

We use Butyl caulk for sealing the end of the side hatch-gaskets near the hinge. We squirt a little into the end, and put a small blob on the end...

Ken,

That is a good idea. Lots of trailers out there with the silicone glue on the ends of the seals. If they come unglued they can pull away like yours did (I think Frank's too) and leak. Easy enough to fix and a little maintenance tech video would be very helpful.

I would use the butyl adhesive Craig said to use, do not use the Sikaflex for this however. Sika is a urethane and requires pressure to adhere. Doesn't work good at all to just caulk something up with it. The butyl sticks very well to the rubber seal (and your hands, shirt, hair, kitchen countertop, furniture and basically anything else you touch over the next few hours). We call the stuff the "evil black stuff" for a reason.
