Folding Bikes

A couple months ago we went up to Canada to pick up a pair of folding bikes by Bazooka. Here are a couple photos:

I can fit both of them into the rear hatch of our CR-V (small SUV) along with some other junk - without folding down the back seats.

Unfolded, the bikes are very retro looking. I think they are one of the only full size folding bikes. Most others have much smaller wheels.

I'm not the best judge of what's 'cool', so I had no idea that these bikes would get so many comments when I got them. As it is, we get almost as many compliments on the bikes as we do on the trailer.

They fold in half in about 10 seconds. Removing the handlebars is optional and takes about 30 seconds with an Allen wrench.

OK In your case Evan I just have to see pics of your "rig" (inside of RD and TV) just b4 you pull out of the driveway, wife and daughter in car as well! Please!!!! LOL

Evan,

Cool bikes. I am so used to seeing the aviator style folding bikes for throwing in the back seat of the plane that this is a nice change. Your right, all the ones I am used to seeing have the little wheels. Yes, they are practical transportation when you need a folding bike but you look a bit like a clown in the parade on one. These are sweet though.

Being 5'2", the smaller wheeled folding bike fits my husband Bill's size and he looks pretty good on it - now he wants me to get one and I will - and the great thing about being my age is, I don't care what I look like as long as I'm having fun! But your bikes ARE cool looking. Reminds me of what I rode when I was a kid.

Evan, do you know if they have any dealers down here in the lower 48? Portland, being the self-proclaimed 'best bike city in the US' has nearly as many bike stores as Starbucks (I exaggerate a little here, but we have loads of them). I am curious if you had to go north because they don't export them, or there wasn't a dealer near by. I really like the style here, and the folding is an added bonus, although it seems they have sold out of that style, so I thought I would ask...maybe a shop has them...I suppose I could email the company to ask too. Thanks for sharing!

We got our bikes through ebay from a Vancouver, BC dealer. For some crazy reason he was selling them for $250 instead of the normal $450. Seemed slightly suspicious, but we drove up to check them out (and save $150 on shipping) and everything was legit.

He's back to a normal price now... Sorry don't have any other info on US dealers. There are certainaly other brands of folding bikes, but I think the Bazooka is the only real full-size folding bike and they certainly have a 'cool' factor. We get more comments on the bikes than our trailer - if that's possible. :)
