Folding bikes

Ah the Fred Flintstone model. Lots ofrunning, pushing the upright handlebars, no need for a seat or foot rests.

Very very nice.....
 
Hey guys!

I brought my bike down to Eugene for the weekend and thought I would pop into Bike Friday for a quick look over (make sure I put it together correctly), plus I had a 20% off coupon burning a hole in my pocket. Had a great chat with Robby and Eric and they got me set up with my rear bike rack and fenders.

I also learned about another snazzy part, which I asked them to install. On the New World Tourist, to fold the bike up, you have to take the handlebar stem out of the socket and lay it on top of the bike. I noticed they had a piece that allows you keep the handles attached to the bike, but it folds down. It is really nice and slick. I didn't realize they offered the option when I first ordered the bike and would recommend it (if you decide you want a Bike Friday). These guys are too good. When I decided I wanted it, they started making out the invoice, they went to the back to get another part for me, and came out and told me one of their guys would put one together right then. Saved me money in shipping and they installed it for me. Here is a picture of it being installed on my bike (and what it looks like):

If you are curious what the sales room looks like, here you go! I got to meet the owner today too, which was really nice. We met his daughter, who is a main player at Bike Friday last time. Great small business with excellent product and customer service. We have been very happy! They really are the Camp-Inn of folding bikes.

Thanks! It makes me happy looking it. I get the same feeling from Dottie. Even Laddy was asking when he could get one. When you are older child...much older. Plus he needs to learn to ride first! They do tandems that fold, and are built for families. The back end is custom done for the kids measurements. It is amazing! The whole thing will still go in a suit case too!
 
Mick'nSarah we picked up our bikes yesterday and we love them.Now I have to get one of my kids to help me post pictures. :)
 
We have a bike rack which attaches to the back of my SUV. We hang 3 bikes on it and it is quick and easy. Just take a bungee off, pick up the bike and you are ready to go. I don't see the need for a folding bike, except for boating with one.
 
For me, since I often camp on my own with out my husband, I needed something that I could manage on my own. I don't have the trailer hitch on the back of the trailer, so I couldn't put a rack there. I drive an SUV and trying to get bikes off the roof would be hard for me (I am not a tall person, and I have fears of doing more damage to things by trying). I have considered the rack that goes between the truck and the bike, but there are advantages and disadvantages there. I do take my bike camping, on boat trips, and around town with me. It is what works for me.

Different strokes, for different folks. I have been very happy with it.
