This handy little gadget keeps your cooler lid propped open when not in use - we got it for $3 at Cabelas.

We have one of those also, from Cabela's. In use, does it still allow your hatch to close, when the table is on top of the cooler?

And speaking of coolers, does anyone else out there have a problem with the latch on the Coleman cooler? Our latch does not cinch down enough to form a tight seal. We then went so far as to check out a brand new cooler at REI, and found them to be the same. After searching for online reviews, it looks like it might be a quality control problem at Coleman. We contacted Coleman about it, and they said they would replace the cooler if we would ship it back to them. We thought at least they could offer to pay the shipping for us. Thanks, but no thanks Coleman!!

Jim & Jamie,
Ditto on the cooler seal. I did have concern, but let it go. If it should seal tighter, I will send it back to Coleman.
Did Coleman mention it should seal tight? Did they give you a turn around time?
Thanks,

Coleman changed the design of the latch several years ago, it's been since the design change. They are all like that from what we can tell. I really can't see any benefit to sending one back because I am pretty sure the replacement will be exactly the same. I am in the understanding that this may have been done on purpose by Coleman as a design change, possibly to reduce a latch breakage problem that they used to have years back. All a rumor of course though. It would be interesting to see though if they really have a fix, do they have replacements that are different somehow to all the ones being sold otherwise?

Evan, Cabela's also sells a light that sticks to the inside of the cooler lid. It lights when you open the lid and stays on long enough to find what you need.

We also had trouble with the latch sealing tightly. Husband Bob went to Menard's and got a rubber D seal and affixed it to the track on the lid. We haven't had any problems since! :-)
