Also, how about being able to tally nights by state to help in keeping the state maps up to date? In fact, I have have the input format specs for the state map generator - it will return a jpg map based on the url string that you provide, so it wouldn't be hard to integrate this into the app.

Sounds like some pretty cool stuff could come out of this project...can't wait to see how it unfolds.
We would love to keep an organized journal, but for us it would have to follow the KISS principle. That extended database is great, but we would probably use a fraction of it's details and would lose interest quickly if we had to input that much info...just the way we roll.
