What is the best way to bring two bicycles when TD camping? It would be nice to be able to have access to the rear hatch on both the TV and the TD.
 
Are you looking for full size bikes or folding bikes?
I have a wonderful Yakima rack that allows access to galley
 
We have two folding bikes that fit into bags. Depending on how much we are carrying, we ride with them in either the TV or the cabin of the trailer. Ours are cheapo models, but they suit our needs very well.
 
We have full size bikes. Does the Yakima rack swing away to the side for galley access? We have seen one called a "swing daddy".
 
We have one folding bike and one kids bike. Both fit on the bed while traveling and then I move things around for bed time easily. They lock to the trailer hitch area nicely with a big U lock.
 
Guess I was wrong, the other bike rack maker. I have the Thule T2 918XTR

Depends upon how the bikes are loaded if I can open the galley hatch.

I have a bike rack, I'd have to go down and search for the name, but It's one of the brand names, Tule or Yakima purchased at REI so whatever they were selling.
Anyway, it does fold backwards about 2' or so and I can open the back hatch for access. Can't cook very well but able to open all the cabinets etc...

It's just got a pin you take out or put in, or slide the full rack out, but that would be a little cumbersome...
 
Alright, sorry about resurrecting an old thread, but here I go anyhow.
Has anyone mounted a Thule T2 type platform style bike rack into their tow vehicle's receiver utilizing a dual receiver adapter so the tear drop is also hanging off the same tow vehicle receiver utilizing the dual receiver adapter? That way the carrier and bikes are in-between the tow vehicle and the TD.
Crazy?
 
We have a Yakima rack of similar design that we use with the double hitch, when our pick-up bed is overloaded. You just have to be extra careful not to jack knife the trailer when backing up, or the rack may hit your propane bottle or the front storage box. I have a good picture of the rack and double hitch, in use, that I can post if anyone is interested.

I think that I asked Cary about that possibility and he said that it wouldn't work. We ended up buying a yakima swingdaddy(newer version) to put on the hitch at the end of the TD. The swingdaddy can swing away from the galley area w/o having to remove the bikes. We haven't tried it yet on the TD--hope to pick ours up in a few weeks, but it worked great for opening the hatch on our outback--we were able to just swing the bike rack to the side and gained access to the rear cargo without having to remove the bikes.

I'd like to see what that looks like! Pictures would be greatly appreciated.
We don't have a receiver installed on our 560. Might do that in the future for just this purpose.
We ride a lot. A whole lot. So not taking bikes along with us is just not an option. They go on the roof of the tow vehicle now, or on the roof racks on the 560. But both of those places are WAY off the ground and awkward to get the bikes on and off of with any semblance of grace. Big wind drag too.
In between the TV and the TD SEEMS like a good place, but it's all about the clearances...
Can just any competent trailer/hitch shop install a receiver on the 560, or is that a job better performed by CI?
