Yeah, I have the G6 Deluxe ( I didn't see that on their website currently) and I like it, but if I were to buy one again, I would get the G6 Cool Top for the better ventilation through the roof panels on warm days ( although it might not hold the heat as well on cold days, but we don't do too much cold weather camping). I do suspect the roof fly adds a little more time to the setup, and may require two people to install on anything but a calm day, so you may want to take that into consideration too.I've got a G6 and like it --- the only problem is it does NOT breathe well, and I overheat in February. I've got cruddy internet right now, does the G6 still have the half panel that opens opposite the big entry door? Its probably not the best for those who imbibe -- but I like that feature...gives egress. I use mine in cold months. I put a a 'big buddy' heater in it, and it gets the shelter up to the 60's when its freezing outside. Not really efficient, but it makes early or late season camping possible.
I"m still ticked off at pahaque and will keep saying until they re-produce the cottonwood. If they ever do, I"m buying 3 or 4 of 'em. Mine lasted for 5 years of hard use and was/is the benchmark by which I judge all covers!!!
I still like the custom door panel we had installed opposite to the main entry in our Clam better than what Gazelle put in theirs, because it has about half the step over height of the Gazelle which you referred to as being a bit tricky to navigate especially after tipping a few.
I still can't understand why Clam hasn't gotten their act together and come out with that feature on their Pavilion model. I tried to get them to add that feature to open a whole new market for the many tear droppers out there. I even told & showed them what I had done, but I don't know if they thought I would expect compensation for the idea (which I didn't ask for), or what, but their only response was that by doing the alteration, I had voided my warranty. If you, or someone you know can add the extra door opening on the Clam, I still think it's worth considering. Here is a pretty good price on one: https://www.wayfair.com/home/pdp/cl...shelter-cbxr1185.html?piid=98451332,105831827
I do think the Gazelle is made from a higher quality material, and built better than the Clam, but the Clam is 150 X 150 compared to Gazelles 124 X 124, and that extra room in the Clam is missed when we are using the Gazelle.
So, as I've said before, every shelter option seems to be a compromise of some sort, and you'll need to decide which compromise will provide the most usable shelter for your style of camping.
